I remember trying a regular grow lamp once and it burned my plant to a crisp. This is not only practical but cost effective too.

Made in, and imported from China.
Along with all computers, cell phones, tablets, and air conditioners.
(I know not every one, but most)
Everything in every Walmart in America. Everything in every K-Mart. Everything in every Target in the USA.
(again I know not literally everything, but most, and it’s always increasing.)
90% for computers.
This is what North Korea is about, in my view. China is setting up North Korea, so we won’t do anything about China itself.

Do these LEDs, tuned to the light temperature most beneficial to plants, give off that purple cast into the room? I have seen the ones in my local hydroponic shop and the light they throw out is most irritating.

if you pay for AC, LEDs have hidden savings. 60W vs 8W is a 52W saving. But, where is that 52W going? HEAT (hold an incandescent, I dare you). You have to remove the 52W of heat with your AC, which, let's ballpark is 50% efficient. So, you're going to use another 104W to remove excess light bulb heat. Now, the effective LED consumption is 8W (plus some heat) vs. 60W (plus some heat)+ 104W. That's 8W vs. 164W.

Of course this is an open invitation to get yourself swatted by sweaty porcine cops squeezed into paramilitary rambo gear after they have surveilled your house and the local hydroponics store for “suspicious activity”.
If you are lucky, you will suffer only thousands of dollars in property damage and a dead family dog. Of course there will forfeiture of any cash or vehicles. Gotta pay the swat team, dontcha know?

Keeps the electric meter from spinning like a top and excessive usage down in those illegal grow houses, hence arrest

I am considering getting chickens again and growing their winter food under grow lamps. Looks feasible in the garage. Bag of seed less expensive than bags of feed. Healthier too.

eulogizing about themYour LED grow lights just died?
To: Oshkalaboomboom
I am finding these very expensive LightingEver LED lights to be very unreliable and short lived.
They just don’t hold up. When one goes out you don’t just replace the light you replace the whole fixture at great cost and waste of the metal frame and glass of the dead fixture.
My luck with 16 of these things has been lousy since 4 have failed within a year: https://www.lightingever.com/50w-bright-outdoor-flood-bulb-3400043-ww.html

I have several species of beautiful Sansevieria growing in a darkish spot with a couple of LED can lights aimed on them. They are thriving beautifully.
As my CFL bulbs gradually go, all are being replaced with LED lights---track light cans, ceiling fan lights, etc. Love them! First of all, they are instant-on, unlike CFLs, where you have to wait a couple minutes for full light (but you're still paying for the electricity). Second, they don't generate heat. And third, they don't contain mercury, like CFLs do.

I had some early-version LED grow lights, they were clumsy and didn’t put out enough light to keep the plants alive. That was several years ago. The ones in this article look much better!
I’m a compulsive gardener, living where the ground is frozen 4-5 months out of the year. I might add these to my Christmas list :)
