Police are warning residents of a Chicago suburb to avoid helping "zombie dogs" because they are Police are warning residents of a Chicago suburb to avoid helping "zombie dogs" because they are infected coyotes that could sicken other pets with the disease.
Hanover Park Police Department posted the warning on its Facebook page on Wednesday, saying the coyotes, usually nocturnal animals, are infected with sarcoptic mange that causes them to be active in the day.
Infected animals will often appear mangy -- which looks just like it sounds. They suffer hair loss and develop secondary infections, eventually looking like some sort of zombie dog, the department said.

In Chicago? Only if it's carrying a wallet.
Maybe if the peeps had varmet gunz...
Don’t let “them” deceive you.
These are Chupacapras. Make no mistake about it.
Reservoir Dogs!
Here I am Stuck in the Middle with You.
Cupacabra!
The ones around here are very healthy with thick coats. I shot one the other day then ground him up with the brush hog where he fell in the pasture. I hope that discourages other little adventuresome coyotes from visiting our barnyard.
If I could shoot more of the sneaky bassturds I’d start hanging them on the fence posts.
Give them some DEMOCRATS to eat...
You need an Anatolian Shepherd. The coyotes won’t come near your place.
TMI :)
More federal aid I suppose.
Send Ballerina Boy out to take care of them.
“Anatolian Shepherd”
Is this the Turkish Kangol ?
Because those things are monsters. Worlds best dog as I understand it, and the Turkish Government used to ban their export.. Not sure about now. But I heard they don’t want them cross-bred with anything else and the breed is a national treasure.
Great story. Infected with what? Wouldn’t want to give just a little detail.
They have them here in the US. Terrific dogs with great guardian instincts, gentle as a lamb with their charges but brutal with predators. Big beautiful dogs with great hearts. Coyotes won’t even come close to them.
I was wondering that myself so I looked it up - it's scabies, an infection by burrowing mites (Sarcoptes scabiei canis). Humans get something like it from a related organism.
The girls from our church’s mission group caught it at the homeless shelter in Jamaica. It’s annoying but curable.
Saw two of these creepy looking animals just last week.
People with little dogs should be aware.
