London police officers that patrol local "beats" carry no firearms!!! This has been a practice for over 100 years. They do carry "night sticks", but that is no effective replacement for the lack of loaded firearms!!!
There were multiple reports from civilians and onlookers at yesterday evening's massacre of innocent around London Bridge, that local "community" police ran from the Muslin murderers, because they had no firearms to protect themselves and the public!!! If this is true, it is certainly a sorry state of affairs, and should be corrected immediately by the Mayor of London or the Prime Minister!!! The British government should hang its head in shame!!!
The Prime Minister and the Mayor of London have the blood of innocents and their police dripping from their politically correct hands!!! SAD!!!
I see nothing wrong with that if london was still kinda a Mayberry kind of place but now with all those terrosit muzzle living there they need to be fully armed and ready to go
RE: The “community police” running away...They know, signing up, that they will be on duty without firearms. It sucks having to face down a situation like that unarmed, but they are obligated to put themselves between the threat and the people. It’s the calling of a policeman. Not having a firearm is no excuse for shirking your duty when you KNOW and ACCEPT going in that that you will on duty without a firearm.

During my career, back about thirty-forty years ago, I traveled in and out of London more then twenty-five times. It was a terrific city...people, tourists and regular Brits alike, had great respect & admiration for the local police on patrol.
But...that has all changed with the onslaught of Muslim terrorists and the weak, politically correct, spines of British politicians, including Conservatives, Labor and Liberals!!! Mother England is no longer the dame she once was!!!
The gentle era of the unarmed copper may have to end. I do know that they have armed units that will show up on call, but that’s not the same as being Johnny-on-the-spot with a weapon.
Last time I commuted on the Washington DC Metro, there were cops walking around with MP-5 submachine guns. Not sure what they planned to do with those on a crowded platform, maybe just a show-of-force thing.
I believe only about 2% of police in the UK have firearms training ( 2,000 out of 120,000 approximate)

The non-carrying of firearms by most cops was a very early example of virtue signaling. ‘We’re a civilized society and not the Wild West etc.’
Even now most persons, regardless of political orientation, regard guns as scary, nasty things and claim that if most/all police were armed then they would be a nation on war footing.
To them I ask: aren’t you on war footing now with only batons and wagging fingers to protect you?

I agree with you 100%!!! The London local patrolling police should be armed with firearms, like right now!!! Had they been properly trained and armed with firearms last night lives would have been saved and stabbings would have less impact then they did!! I blame that moron Muslim Mayor of London and the Prime Minister...both major failures in protecting their innocent citizens & tourists!!!!! Give me our POTUS, Donald J. Trump any day over these weak sisters!!!

Don’t expect the Muzz Mayor of London to protect the police and the public from Muzz terrorists; more likely just the reverse. preserve the status quo which protects the terrorists from the police and the public.
London has always let the skallies, yobs, chavs, gypsies, pimeys, and black thugs roam free in the city. They will allow the violent Muslims run free as well. All these terrorists and terrorist cells were known before the fact but they won’t dare upset the precious Muslim.
