FULL TITLE: Chaos at Fort Lauderdale airport as angry passengers clash with cops: Three are charged with inciting a riot and customers are thrown to the floor as ELEVEN canceled flights lead to ugly scenes
Furious passengers lashed out at police, were thrown to the floor and arrested during chaotic scenes at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Several people were detained during ugly confrontations with law enforcement when 11 Spirit Airlines flights were canceled and 26 were delayed at the Florida hub on Monday night because pilots refused to fly during a union dispute.
The group of passengers who clashed with cops were angry because the last-minute disruptions meant they would miss a graduation ceremony.
A mob of irate customers began beating the counters and screaming at staff, prompting airline employees to call the police.
Shocking footage shows people shouting as they are dragged from the terminal building. Women were also captured attacking officers, only to be thrown on the floor of the departure building. Some passengers applauded as the women were escorted out.

Nothing on your list is “probable” for any particular flight. None of it has ever happened to me or to most people I know (a rare cancelled flight, yes, but rare) — therefore your list is wildly inaccurate and exaggerated. Hysteria, yes.
So, you’ll have several “spare” passenger cars just waiting on sidings, at ~$700K a pop, and several locomotives sitting likewise at ~$2 million each?
Service would be even WORSE, losing that kind of money

My nearest Amtrak station is a four hour drive.
My nearest airport, BZN, is less than 10 minutes from home.
There are a lot more commercial pilots than there are jobs for them. They work for practically nothing for regional carriers and FBOs accumulating hours in hopes of getting a job with a major carrier. It should be no problem finding replacements.
The train — which reminds me of an Ogden Nash poem from back in 1935 or so — kinda funny, kinda what-goes-around...

I travel on trains.

I see people who travel on planes.

That’ the trouble with trains:

You get people from planes.
I have not flown in 17 years; nor will I unless it is an emergency.
The airlines, and the TSA, can kiss my grits.

Amtrak is unreliable and customer service is a concept that is foreign to them. No thanks.
They literally could not get me from here to there. I would have had to take a bus for part of the trip.
So I drove.
