Temple to Mysterious Roman Deity Unearthed in Turkey

An ancient temple dedicated to god Mithras was unearthed by archaeologists in the vicinity of the Turkish city of Diyarbakir.

The underground 4th century temple was discovered by archaeologists working at Zerzevan Castle located in Diyarbakir province, and apparently served as a gathering place for Roman nobles who participated in the cult of Mithras. ...

There is also an underground church at the site, and subterranean passages. It sounds most mysterious and romantic!

Right next to this they found a temple dedicated to Mothra.

A statue of two tiny twins was found at the site.

Visited a Mithras temple in Naples. They had pretty serious parties after they ritually killed a bull. Interesting stuff, the mystery cults.

Mithraism was the religion of the Emperor Julian, who ruled about halfway between Constantine and the Goths’ sack of Rome, in the mid 360s. IIRC he died in Iraq, where he and his troops were caught on the wrong side of the Tigris; one could say he was between Iraq and a hard place.
