She has always dogged the rumor that her Best Supporting Actress win was a mistake, that presenter Jack Palance read the wrong name. She must’ve been relieved after this past ceremony to witness exactly what happens when this takes place.

“I have accomplished courtroom attorney friends who say that all you need to know about criminal court room law can be learned from that movie. Love Marisa Tomei in it.”

I am retired now, but I was a courtroom attorney for many years. I once went to a Continuing Legal Education seminar where the lecturer used only this movie! I learned several important lessons from that seminar that I used effectively thereafter.

I agree, Tomei’s character was great. I knew the answer to the skidmark question because I had a friend with a ‘63 Tempest into which he shoehorned a 326. That car had the rear transmission which had IRS (GM adapted it from the Corvair.)

That is the default position for artistes, media types and academia until proven otherwise.

“Mr. Gambini, don’t sit in that chair when you talk to me!”

“He told me to sit here.”

“When you come into my court you will dress lawyerly.”

Way too many good lines in that movie.

... wanted to take Mona Lisa out of My Cousin Vinny entirely, in order to give more of the spotlight to Pesci.

I don't know. Elvis Presley's illegal alien manager reportedly got the studio to tone down Ann-Margret's performance during the production of whatever Elvis vehicle.

Yes, very good in that. Recently she’s done a number of movies. No part as good as Mona Lisa.

"Mona Lisa Vito: No, there's more! You see? When the left tire mark goes up on the curb...

Plot hole, OK, I can buy She was an expert enough to be able tell by the photograph the marks were from a different car, but how was Vinny who had no training on cars able to?

...in order to give more of the spotlight to Pesci.

That was, IIRC, when Pesci was in practically everything being released. For me, Public Eye was the “jump the shark” moment.
