I didn’t know Parker was an illegal alien.
Interesting.
My wife had a newbie auditor from up North (Baltimore? Far enough North, apparently) along with her to a place in rural North Georgia. They’re at a local diner for breakfast before going to the account, and he concluded his order with “and I’ll try a grit.”
After they got done laughing, wife and waitress clued him in as to the proper universal use of the plural when discussing grits.
Its a great movie in parts because while it’s your typical fish out of water (Yankee in the south) movie....it treats all the characters relatively fairly..
It could of made all Southern characters as cartoon cut out Straw Men stereotypes as Hollywood wants to do...but it doesn’t.
Good writing usually has the nominal hero and protagonist fully fleshed-out people
We learned what became of Daniel Simpson Day.
She was born in Dec ‘64 and is now 52yrs old.
It’s like Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day and many others- almost every line is quotable and if you say one, people know which movie you mean
For example:
“That’s a big twinkie”
I agree. The prosecutor wasn’t a buffoon and extended traditional courtesies of the profession to Vinny.
It has been said that Some Like it Hot, with Marilyn, Tony Curtis and Lemmon has been voted the funniest movie in the history of movies. Just saw it on TV a few weeks ago, and it definitely was and is funny, no matter how many times it is seen.
But, My Cousin Vinnie ranks up there without question.
And Parker would be damned if he let Elvis go overseas without him, where others could have the opportunity to poach Elvis unimpeded.
Jack Palance was drunk and called the wrong name /s
There were some funny lines and the cast was likeable but overall the movie was horrible and “Mona Lisa” was an obnoxious typecast. Tomei was the PC pick of the year. Redgrave should have won the award.
Vinny worked as a mechanic because he couldn't pass the bar.
I love this movie. I've used it when teaching legal studies classes.
I’ve had a thing for Miss Tomei since I first saw her on that Cosby show spin off “Real World”.
“whatever Elvis vehicle”
Viva Las Vegas
Nobody quotes her. All I remember is “yutes”.
Leni
She is clearly the hottest 52yr old woman on the planet.
I just was reading a WSJ online article that says My Cousin Vinny is the best courtroom movie ever.
Better than 12 Angry Men. Better than To Kill a Mockingbird.
I find that hard to believe. I’m 43 and she has to be older than me.
