So you tease us with the really important stories, but then don't even provide a link? Shame on you.
(See "Giant Roaches Can Grow Big Testicles When They Need Them.")
At least the story didn't mention the Candiru - that would make most of the men here flinch.

Botfly infestation in monkey
Jigger egg sac removal
(Jiggers are an invasive species of sand flea to Africa where they've thrived due to poor sanitation and a lack of footwear. They burrow into hands and feet and lay eggs which have to be removed. This guy has dozens of these videos.)

...youre supposed to wear certain bathing suits to prevent it...I can't recall the name of the parasite you're talking about, but I do know that it swims...and is able to enter the body through a stream of water...or urine...as the case may be.
So, one is cautioned to NOT urinate while submerged in certain waters where this parasite is known to exist, as it is capable of swimming up the stream of urine, through the urethra and into the bladder.
True story.

Most of the ones I saw , they were right here in the good old US of A... no need to travel to find that.
One episode I remember was a firefighter in Kali... got some kind of microbe from fighting a wild fire... literally ATE his brain...

My neighbor came back from vacation and began suffering severe headaches on the top of her head. Turned out a bot (?) fly larvae was growing under her skin. Makes me sick just to think about it.

That was the fly that laid eggs just by landing on you; the traveler got a couple of welts, and it turned out they were from the larvae - which had some kind of barbs to make removing them difficult. You’d ooze pus from them because they had to keep small openings to breathe through...

You re right. I will amend my comment to include swimming in lakes in southern states like Florida or Georgia. Lots of nasty bugs people have picked up from them.
