Dear Lord,
Please don’t let me die stupidly.
In His name,
Amen
Maybe she got it in 2008 when you couldn't give them away.
It’s “no good deed goes unpunished”: it never ends.
Oh, she was taking out and not putting in. I thought people only put in at such boxes. Nothing in there worth taking out
Alright people.
Who hasn’t at least once or twice, gone to a donation drop box at 2 a.m. and gotten stuck stealing some Bugle Boys and a Members Only jacket when you were younger?
We just all survived.
IIRC Mt. Carmel is on the list of “10 Cheapest Places to Live in the USA.”
Just down the road from Centralia where a mine fire has been burning for half a century.
Coal country.
She drives a giant humvee armored monster but she can’t buy clothes?
Read the article? That would greatly tarnish my Freeper street cred. :-)
I know a couple that is VERY well off and she always goes to thrift stores and consignment shops for the family clothing.
This has been going on for over 20 years-——and they have a really nice life.
.
Good grief! That is like dying while you are stealing from the collection plate at church. I wonder how long she hung there before she died.
I assume that you forgot the Sarcasm tag.
I have called the police when I have seen people stealing from donation stations. Unfortunately, the police dispatchers in our area do not take this type of theft seriously.
It is awful that this woman will be remembered by many for getting herself killed while stealing from a charity.
I went on a cleaning binge a while back that had me up all night making runs to the dumpster, runs to the drop off box, etc., in the wee hours.
It’s easier to dispose of items when everyone else is asleep and can’t say “I need that” when you toss an item that’s been collecting dust in the attic for eleven years.
I was leaving the grocery store parking lot one night and I looked over to the donation box in the next lot, to see one of Obama’s daughters, sitting on the pavement, rifling through about 10 bags of clothes.
She was picking out what she liked, for herself and flinging the rest onto the ground.
Amazing.
You should see the size of the Hummer Drop-Off Bin they got in Mount Carmel...
FWIW, a couple of clicks in from the posted article:
“In November, police received a report of a woman who was driving a black Hummer removing items from the bin, he said.”
http://www.pennlive.com/news/2017/02/what_was_woman_trapped_in_clot.html
"Judith Permar, 56, of Mount Carmel, Pa., was standing on a step stool Sunday when it collapsed, breaking her arms and wrist and trapping her in the donation box, PennLive reported. "
They’ll probably ban donation boxes now due to liability.
I’m still driving the 2007 Caravan that I bought in 2008 for $3500 (had 35,000 miles on it then, 170,000 now).
I rememebr working nights at a Hess Station in one of the upscale neighborhoods outside Rochester, NY. A lady that looked to be in her 50s, wold pull up in her new Lincoln Continental and go through the Salvation Army box - often taking all the contents and bringing back the stuff she didn't want. Took me a couple months to convince the local cops that they needed to stop her before they saw a newspaper story about how the rich in that town robbed the poor and the cops didn't care...
