On both Monday and Tuesday, weather forecasts call for cold weather and very little wind, conditions likely to cause high levels of exhaust pollution over large areas of the city.

Therefore the City of Oslo will for the first time ever implement a ban on diesel vehicles on municipal roads. On Tuesday, the ban will be in effect from 6am to 10pm. It will remain in effect during those same hours for as long as air pollution levels are determined to be at dangerous levels. […]

The city council’s environment commissioner, Lan Marie Berg of the Green Party, said the most important thing for her is to take care of citizens’ health. …

The Green Party. That explains everything. Next: Ban all internal combustion engines and revert to horses, oxen and handcarts.

Maybe Obama will pick this up and make the banishment of diesel engines the final edict of his reign.

In that case, I hope that Trump not only lifts the restrictions on diesels, but also eases things to the point where two-stroke diesels become commonplace again.

A while ago there was a report that the number 1 selling vehicle in Norway was the Tesla. They will have some vehicles to roll in.

The Tessa is not the number one selling vehicle in Norway, probably Skoda is. But I believe Norway buys more Teslas then any other country.

I remember a news article a few years ago that oxen were making at least a small comeback in England due to idiotic government policies and insane taxes on IC engines.

What is bad about this is that Norway promoted diesel cars just a few years ago. Also if you live south of Oslo and want to get to the main airport (Gardermoen) you have to drive through Oslo.
For a country as rich as Norway is their roads and highways are very poor, except the stretch of highway between Oslo and Gardermoen airport where the politicians drive. Many of their major roads are two lane with no shoulders. As I write this The Drøbak tunnel across the Oslo Fjord has been closed and will be for an hour or more.
They want people to take trains and buses but that is tough to do if you have children in school and daycare. Also from time to time they have worker strikes that shut down the buses and trains.
Norway is governed about as well as New York City or Chicago only with out the violence.

Haha. A long time ago Europe decided to push diesel as a way to save the environment. There are shitty little diesel cars all over England that run like shit and sound like shit. But everyone had to buy them because gasoline is so highly taxed as to make it prohibitive to buy. Now, just like everything else the stupid liberals touch, this one comes back to bite them. I love it every time this happens.

I absolutely hate the smell of diesels.....There were plenty of times driving up and down I-575 to and from work where I’d come up on a stretch of road and smell that stink hundreds of yards behind one. I’d hate to be on a road with one that hundreds of them on it.

Two stroke diesel?

The sound of a Detroit was a very unique sound coming from a big truck.

They had them in pickups too. Also, used to be that just about every bus you’d pass on the street or highway had a 6V71 or even an 8V71, especially after Mack left the bus business.
