Internet implodes after Celebration Bowl is decided by excessive celebration penalty

In perhaps the most ironic ending to a sporting event ever, Grambling State beat North Carolina Central in the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl in part because of a … penalty for excessive celebration.

After NC Central’s Quentin Atkinson pulled down a 39-yard TD pass from Malcolm Bell to cut the deficit to 10-9 with just over two minutes remaining, Atkinson was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct when he removed his helmet while galloping around the end zone.

The Stupidity of Liberals has even infected the ranks of organized sports.

I read where a recent study showed that one out of three liberals is just as stupid as the other two.

What bothers me is when you go to a sporting event (particularly for me with an NHL game), you are deafened by the loud sound effects and music that people think has to absolutely be around nowadays, and yet something like what was described in the article is frowned upon big time.

These idiots are infecting every aspect of humanity. Destroying people’s desire for happiness, joy and celebration. Crushing them for making mistakes. I grow to hate them more and more every day. They hide behind social theories like Zero Tolerance, and business theories like Six Sigma, and Lean production. The try to suck the life out of the people who build their products. Products that are supposedly being built to make people’s lives better. But that is no longer what it’s about. It is now about achieving mathematical perfection. And guess what stands in the way of that? Well humanity of course.

The idiot broke a well known rule and should have been penalized. Hopefully he learned a life long lesson.

It’s only a matter of time before they penalize the spectators for cheering.

Main reason I don’t go to games anymore. The 20-second blares of increasingly unrecognizable music.

Taking off his helmet to celebrate in the end zone is an automatic penalty. It’s supposed to be a team sport.

NFL and college football are in their death throes with all these sissy-fied, damned stupid girlie type penalties, etc.
* excessive celebrations,
* targeting,
* horse collar tackles,
* etc.

Let the chics and the lefty ESPN types destroy what was a great sport

hide behind...business theories like Six Sigma, and Lean production.

Seriously? You have no idea what you're talking about. Both of these process improvement methodologies are about eliminating waste in processes. They are antithetical to big government and bureaucracy!

I'll agree with the 'stupid' part but Liberalism has nothing to do with it.

The rule against removing one's helmet on the field of play for safety reasons has been in force for a number of years now. Atkinson is the only one to blame here for the NCCU loss. I hope he has learned a lesson.

The latest fad in the Obozo administration is to pretend they are using Lean production theory while maintaining the top down hierarchical structure that causes the 90% waste in the first place.

They "listen" but don't listen.
They "delegate" but don't delegate.
They are "transparent" while they hide everything important.

You get the idea.

When Lean theory is applied correctly it works, or course.

The same is true at college football games. I attend home games of the University of Southern California Trojans, and the rap, heavy metal and disco "music" that is piped in drives my crazy. They sometimes play it while marching bands are playing real music on the field.

But if the extra point was *blocked* as the story said, the penalty was likely just a minimal factor. If the extra point attempt would have been blocked at the normal distance, the outcome would have been the same.

Sounds like an irony screaming to be found when, in actuality, it wasn’t the impact the headline wants it to be.
