I have a friend who is very intelligent and talented. However when it comes to politics he is a diehard Democrat who IMO doesn't seem to look at the whole picture. He likes to refer to Republicans as "Reds". Well judge for yourself as here is something he wrote today.
"Reds are upside down on every question. Affordable healthcare is bad, Russia is good, our allies not so much. Cutting taxes and over spending on unnecessary military equipment is a good idea. Civil rights are bad. Reducing the population by 10 percent is a good idea. Launching multiple Trade wars with nations that lend us money is a good idea. The president should tell private enterprise how to run their companies.Its just flat out nuts."
Anyone have any suggestions on how to respond? Just a reminder that the last paragraph was his, not mine.

Of course he was also wrong about Obamacare, the Iraq war, how to run the military, gorebal warming, and lots of other things. Do it objectively: write down the percent of people who thing the country is on the wrong track now and then come back in a year and see how many beers he owes you.

They aren’t the only bad guys in your little soap opera.
The world is going somewhere in a handbasket but, there are still a few laughs to be had. Light one up and giggle at your friend. Let him believe it’s “with” him.
Call him a bigot, then leave.
Otherwise, he is not really your friend, and will only be a tire tied to a chord around your neck.

If the choice is Russia or Saudi Arabia, I’ll take Russia. I had the same argument with my lib friend. Clearly, it is a talking point.
Ignore them and never discuss politics with them. One of my ex colleague from India will say “ US is rich country, they should provide free education to every kid”. I asked him, are you ready to pay more tax. His reply was “ We already pay lot of tax, they should use that money”. It seems that amount is not sufficient, pay more tax, you will have free education for kids. Chinese colleague, “Too much stress here, and nothing get done”. My response, come to work on time and don’t spend time on i-phone.

Some folks are only secure running with the totalitarian herd. It is alien to those of us that are capable of logical thought, but if they are imbued with a herd-like emotionalism that is just who they are.
Doesn’t read much except headlines, does he? Intelligence requires gathering info on all sides and doing a bit of research...I’d say he fails on that.
