Amazing what they're doing with electric conversions these days. It's not just economy that's driving the interest. The instantaneous torque and horsepower can produce a very exhilarating vehicle. This one is a classic, 1968 Mustang fastback that beat the all-time speed record set by Carroll Shelby. Over 174 mph at the Texas Mile, an annual, no speed limit event held at an airstrip in Texas.

It’s a new day, for sure. Optimism. Hope for the future. I want to feel it again. It’s been a long eight years.

I own a 68 mustang coup, it has been under a tarp for a decade. It may one day get the 351 Windsor (bored/stroked to 427) that is sitting in my shed.

Speed of electric cars can be extremely fast. Until I can take a road trip and fill up anywhere in 10 minutes it is just isn’t practical for anything but a morning commute.

If you set it up for range, you can get over 200 miles between charges. If you spend the money for rapid charge, you can get to 60% or so in five or ten minutes.

Is it as quick and convenient as gas? No, not yet. But, it’s not as if you have to wait hours for a charge anymore, given the right equipment and the right charger.

“I own a 68 mustang coup,”

67 Camaro here. We would be crazy to ever sell them. Easy to work on, plenty of parts. I’m just about done restoring.

I saw that on the Velocity channel. Can’t remember the show’s name, but it was sweet. The show wasn’t really about that car, it was about the principal’s of the show looking for cars to restore for their business. They were laughing at the guy building it, saying does it even do a burnout. He offered them a ride, and they were laughing. After the ride they weren’t laughing anymore. The female, of the pair looking for cars to restore, kept remarking I can’t get over the fact that it was so quiet. He was saying that was the longest burnout he thinks he ever saw. They were both amazed at how quickly it accelerated.

If you spend the money for rapid charge, you can get to 60% or so in five or ten minutes.

Only at stations that have the equipment to provide that service.

They’ll burn the tires right off, if you don’t let up. I got intrigued with these after seeing a guy out in San Diego doing classic VW Beetle conversions, they were actually pretty fast. Then, I found a 67 Corvair that was set up for acceleration, that one was cool, too, always have loved 2nd generation Corvairs. This Mustang is just too cool.

Correct. The “Superchargers” are not yet widely available.

I am a mopar fanatic. Two of my sons have Aspens(2) and volare (1). One of the Aspens a 77 318, is a tv star as it was on the shoe The Americans. He bought it from the guy who rents them to movies etc. they also share a 72 grand Torino

I’m looking for a 67 Belvedere/satellite/GTX. I owned one new in October 66.

I am currently babying a 71 Cutlass Supreme with 6000 original miles that belonged to my wife’s grandfather.

There’s a sort of mild turbine-like whine as they spool up, but you’re right, no sound until you hit the go pedal. Doesn’t bother me at all.
