Princess.
What about dragons and unicorns?
Kind of low for Phil to stir up old gossip about the Royal Family with Di’s sons still quite active at Buckingham. But then, Phil is the kind of guy who will pay over $30. Million in alimony to one of his ex-wives, only to remarry her. The ex-wife then refuses to return any of that alimony, even tho they rewed. He seems a nice guy, but gets walked on a lot.
He was also[is] the largest private owner of Alamo memorabilia. He recently donated his collection to the Alamo.
What a pig. And he never could sing worth beans. Genesis (sans Peter Gabriel) was one of the most overrated bands of all time.
I suppose for every page in a history book, there is someone who has become infatuated with it. That the Alamo is an American story may have added to it’s adventure and romantic allure. Phil is, after all, a musician, and songwriter. They, like film directors, often derive their inspiration from unexpected sources.
I saw him perform in Milwaukee. And, I mean, perform. He did not just sing. He had so much energy and sang for hours. The man was amazing! I may not agree with all of his choices, but he is a showman, a good one, in my opinion.
A Trick of the Tail and Wind and Wuthering were great albums. Gabriel was (and is) very talented, but Collins could also sing the back catalog pretty well (like on the live album Seconds Out).
I agree. And, Selling England by the Pound.
I liked Trick of the Tail when it came out, but it stopped sounding good when I stopped smoking weed. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, however, remains a classic.
I love the story about the search for Gabriel's replacement. I'm sure you know it. They auditioned hundreds of people only to eventually realize the drummer Phil Collins was probably best at doing it.
the most overrated bands are The Doors and Rage Against the Machine
(having read the article and looked at the pictures; as a fan of his work and particularly the vastly underrated DUKE:)
So much money, so many women, and he still can’t wear clothes right? Can’t find a collar that fits him? He dresses like he’s the day-school teacher’s kid at his first junior band performance. Hey Phil: let your next wife dress you.
I just listened to the album "Unorthodox Behaviour" by Brand X and it reminded me what an amazing drummer Phil Collins was (is?). If you don't like his singing, give them a try (Brand X, that is).
Old Phil Collins was a showman, with a major drum beat in this song.

Peter Gabriel in Sledgehammer.

But Robert Plant could sing & energise (not as good as Freddie Mercury, who could sing, energise and was a showman, very theatrical) .

He might be a dick, but Genesis was pretty cool.
You can say that about just about everybody in music.
It’s “Selling England By the Pound” where Collins’ drumming really shines. As much as I liked “Tresspass”, you can tell the huge difference in Genesis’ sound that Collins’ drumming brought to it.
I've never smoked weed, but A Trick of the Tail is their best. "Ripples" still puts a lump in my throat when I hear it. They really missed Hackett when he left.
Yes they were. "Blood on the Rooftops" is fantastic.
I just bought the book, I didn't realize just what a huge fan of The Who he is, he worshipped Moonie.
