Taiwanese battery maker Prologium has a lithium ceramic battery that bends, folds, cuts, and doesnt explode. SemiAccurate takes a look at the interesting bits surrounding their solid state electrolyte batteries.
First a little background, I have been writing about why batteries explode for over a decade, the first one I recall was in February of 2004 shortly after The Inquirer posted the first pictures of a laptop in mid-kaboom. Sorry no links because of this and this.

fyi
A non-exploding battery sounds like a great idea! lol
Interesting development in the design of batteries.
I’ll second that. I had a lead acid battery blow up on me. My face was 3 feet away when it blew up. I was lucky.
Was the electrolyte frozen when being charged or dropped or?
Looks good. They don’t seem to be publicly traded, unfortunately for me.
It was being charged.
Coincidently my Dad was an investigating engineer who, among other things, investigated catastrophic failures of batteries for Johnson Controls. There was usually a big lawsuit involved.
That happened to my father a long long time ago. He was lucky too.
I’ve been very lucky I guess.
I’ve done a lot of work on my vehicles over the years and never had a battery explode.
