Blame Heston Blumenthal for turning every munchies-stricken yahoo in the world into a pioneering experimental foodie. Or blame the gourmet burger fad, threatening McDonald’s long-held position as global burger overlords, and forcing them to come up with ever-more elaborate ways to stand out from the competition.
Last week, the never-knowingly-controversial McDonald’s UK Facebook page prompted howls of outrage when they asked followers to answer this question: which flavour milkshake would you prefer to dunk your fries in?

Back when I worked there I had a couple of coworkers that did that. It’s actually pretty good. Salty and sweet go well together, as any fan of salted caramel knows.

They need to go back to the 1970 or so menu and quality and service they would be right back in the hunt
I love French fries dipped in ice cream. It is good.
WORD!!! I have been saying exactly that for years. The 70’s McDonald’s was the BOMB!! Fries coked in beef Tallow, burgers served the the clamshell that kept it so much warmer, bring me back PLEASE!!!!
The best thing to dunk them in would be tallow.
Try finding that. Some folks like mayonnaise.
I worked at Mickey D’s too and hated it. Except for those time when we smoked weed during breaks. Even had a coworker place all fries in a Big Mac and dip the burger in the shake.
We all did that in Jr. High...I suppose that’s close to unsupervised preschoolers. It was so very good, only difference was that it was strictly chocolate malts, not milkshakes used for dipping.
That would be a bit excessive. My favorite time was kicking back in the breakroom having smokes with the local Ronald. Kind of surreal.
My wife and I started doing that thirty years ago when we were dating. Wendy’s Frosty’s and fries were most excellent back then.
McD’s is kind of following here, since a Wendy’s ad about dipping fries in a Frosty has been out a while.
I like pretzels dipped in ice cream, the saltiness and sweetness together are great. Would work just as well with a milk shake.

Chocolate-covered pretzels are awesome, at least back when I used to eat those kinds of things.
