How Poll Bias Obscures Trump’s Likely Election
Spectator.org ^ | 10.7.2016 | Milton Rosenburgh

"Put not your trust in princes” as Psalm 146 advises… nor put such trust in princesses or polls. For “princess,” awaiting a queenly coronation, read Hillary C and for “polls” include any of those focused on the current presidential race.

In point of fact, as the Brits would say, the proper way to read the current presidential polls may be with a modicum of cryptographic decoding and guided by a few essential considerations.

The first is the obvious fact that a respondent answering the pollster may not rank toward the top of the ingenuousness scale. That is to say, he (she) may be directly lying about, or incorrectly predicting, his (her) ultimate vote… and that includes, as well, the possibility of not voting at all.

The second pertinent fact is that such inauthentic self-reports are not randomly distributed so as to generate mere statistical “noise” of the sort reflected in the reported “error limits” of the particular poll. To the contrary, the majority of those who misinform the interviewer may go in one direction rather than the other, whether the choice is between classical or country music or between Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.

From what precedes there follows this crucial assertion: considerably more pro-Clinton respondents in the current polls will, in ultimate fact, vote for Trump than will “Trumpers” vote for Clinton. A much smaller number of others will vote for the Libertarian candidate or won’t vote at all. Does this prediction have a basis in any reality known to pollsters, sociologues, and social psychologists or is it mere wishful conjecture? It does indeed have a very potent basis. To use the jargon of the social psychologist, that basis is now called “Evaluation Apprehension.”

On Facebook, I've noticed that all my Liberal family members attach Trump...but they show no support for Hillary.

During the primaries, there were a lot of "pro-Sanders" crap, but there has been nothing about Hillary since the Convention.

Add to this factor the element of uncooperative Trump supporters, of whom I am one.

However, don’t underestimate the proclivity of the vast majority of Democrats to march lockstep into the voting booth and pull the “D” lever. Over many generations they have become very susceptible to the dutiful obligation to their masters and the sense that voting “D” makes them feel superior.

We need to demoralize them.

I use the phrase “lying corrupt criminal” as much as I can, because none of them can deny it.

Perhaps they’ll stay home rather than vote for the known lying corrupt criminal Hillary.

Or they may not vote for her as a protest? Anybody who thinks they know what is going to happen is trying to fool you.

Pray America wakes

Raising taxes will provide plenty of jobs to the middle class. That’s what I read in my Democrat history book, so it must be true.

I wish Trump would wrap the Bush endorsement around Hillary’s neck! Dems hate the Bush’s and Hillary is just the latest extension of the Bush/Clinton dynasty. Haven’t they wreaked enough havoc already? Time for a change...but they are a machine with a vice grip on power.
This is war

Maybe I’m just fooling myself, but this is what I see over the past two weeks:

Trump did well in the first debate and beat Hillary at least by a little.
Pence blew Kaine away in the VP debate.
Trump has ramped up his ad campaign very effectively.
Hillary screeched at people demanding to know why she isn’t 50 points ahead.
Trump has actively campaigned in front of big crowds.
Hillary has half-heartedly campaigned in front of small crowds.

And the polls show Hillary taking off like a rocket.

I’m gonna call BS on all polls from now until the end of this thing.

If Trump wins, it will be for this reason more than any other;

People who do not consider themselves to be racist are sick and tired of being called racist.

And by that I mean when someone is called racist for saying things with which we agree.

This is how Trump will draw support from Democrat voters. Some of them get it.

They’ll make hurricanes illegal and use the money saved from FEMA to give you free health care.

Another problem with skewed polls... violence after the election. I don’t think Hillary will graciously accept defeat after all of these years and as much as she and Soros and others have invested. They will go with the narrative that Trump “stole” the election and give no end of Hell over it...

For Hillary to skyrocket I’d expect she would be making a big push for the gibmedat vote. Forgive all the student loans and freebies all around. Really not hearing too much of that from her.

There is literally no support for Hillary. Not even among Dems. They will vote for her but there is no support or enthusiasm.

This is why she won’t be able to get over 42/43% of the vote. Only the people who will vote D no matter what will vote for her.

Third party candidates won’t get 10% of the vote, probably 7-8% on the high end, so Trump should be in the 48-49% range as long as he doesn’t self destruct.

Now the 42-43% was if Hillary ran a perfect campaign.. She hasn’t. I expect she will be lucky if she gets 40% on Nov 8. I expect a Trump win by about 8-10 points.

Those dems I know, I mean hard core dems have no argument for her, they just offer at least she’s not Trump or she lies 25% of the time Trump loves 100% of the time...

She is facing flat out obliteration. The only way she wins is if Trump self destructs.

That was the same with Romney. Nobody liked the guy. People only voted for him to vote against Obama.

Lets do this as assignment.
