Theodore Roosevelt's Pen and Phone

On Jaunary 14th, 2014, President Obama declared:

"We’re not just going to be waiting for legislation in order to make sure that we’re providing Americans the kind of help they need. I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone."

Who was the first president armed with a pen and a phone? Who was the first president to issue over 1000 executive orders? Of course, it was America's first dictator. America's first progressive president:

Theodore Roosevelt. Who else did you expect? It's nearly always TR at the root of modern executive malfeasance.

Now, in addition to issuing over 1000 executive orders, there is the general insight as to what these executive orders were for. In his book "Take Up Your Pen" (See page 196) the author explains that TR regularly used unilateral directives for major policy purposes, often times as an end-run-around Congress,(much like Obama does today) which was a stark contrast to all of his predecessors. TR used his executive orders to create chaos and havok, earlier presidents only moved slowly and on uncontroversial matters.

It has been said that Obama has racked up more debt than all previous presidents combined, and the same can nearly be said of Theodore Roosevelt with respect to executive orders.

In the first 112 years of America, American presidents racked up over 1200 executive orders. For those keeping count, that's 25 presidents. Only one president other than Theodore Roosevelt reached over 300 - Grover Cleveland. Every other president issued less.

King Teddy the First issued nearly 1100. It only took him 7.5 years to duplicate what it took 112 years to accomplish in the first. That's an average of 145 executive orders per year. The nearest average prior to TR is 41 per year, from William McKinley.

So, you say you don't like King Barry the First's Pen and Phone? Obama's "Pen and Phone Power" begins with King Theodore Roosevelt. Progressives have always been bad for this country. Always.

At least TR was an American, who loved America. He was also a model of self-invention, having been a sickly child who willed himself to a vigorous adulthood. Lots to like about Teddy - despite the progressivism and monarchial tendencies.

Most Americans, including many Freepers, are brainwashed regarding this fellow. He formed his own Progressive Party for starters. He got the ball rolling on eco-whacko-ism.

He took credit for San Juan Hill after the 10th Cavalry and 24th Inf Reg did all the hard work. Typical dem practice, have Blacks do the hard work, then take all the credit.

I have a feeling RINO’s were alive and well in his era, considering he was a Republican Prez. At least FDR ran under the correct banner.

How does one say that? He was the progressives progressive. If issuing 1200 EOs does not make one think he was doing end-arounds congress, well then, you must think the same of Obama?

Just because he was rugged outdoors man, warrior, cattle rancher, big game hunter and general tough guy, do not let that lead you to the conclusion he was a man who loved America in the way we think that should be expressed.

A progressive is a progressive- that means the US Constitution is not the law of the land as written, but as interpreted/twisted.

Yes, he was liked by many. Had he not croaked in office, he likely could have gotten yet another term.

Same for obama, he’s liked by enough to have gotten a second term.

Lotsa women like Hllary, many dems, the illegals. She stands a chance.

Personally, I really do not think likeability should have anything to do with presidential qualifications.

The comments about Theodore Roosevelt are beyond ignorant, a gross slander and hysterical nonsense.
* TR shared no values of Barack Obama. None.
* TR was, most emphatically, never a Dictator.
* TR was not the first progressive POTUS, as the GOP since Lincoln were progressives; that being the ideology of the party since Fremont in 1856.
* TR was hardly at the root of executive malfeasance.
Teddy Roosevelt’s “History of the United States” in his own words and arranged by Daniel Ruddy w/a Forward from Edmund Morris, capture his sentiments regarding governance. He wrote: “The Republican Party does not belong to the Corporations. Rather it is Lincoln’s Party of plain people, who do not desire injustice to anyone. While I do not say that the people are infallible, I do say that our history shows that the American people are more often sound in their decisions than is the case w/any of the governmental bodies to whom, for their convenience, they have delegated portions of their ultimate power.”

I have often felt alone in blaming Theodore Roosevelt for most of our subsequent woes.

He is, for example, eulogized for his progressive conservation of national lands. What he did abrogated State’s Rights, and paved the way for the Federal Leviathan and its many tentacles, especially the EPA.

Yeah, he was a pioneer: He was the first true RINO.

I’ve read several biographies of Theodore Roosevelt. To compare him to Obama is ludicrous. Roosevelt was profoundly patriotic. He was American through-and-through. Obama is a traitor.
