The woman entered the vehicle with "trepidation," Beck said. The driver traveled about two blocks east of the pick-up location at 8th Street and Vermont Avenue and sexually assaulted her, Beck said.
"She was choked unconscious at least three times, she was brutally sexually assaulted," said Beck, who added that the victim fought back "valiantly."Investigators analyzed DNA evidence from underneath the victim's fingernails, identified the suspect and served a search warrant Saturday that led to the arrest of 39-year-old Dartanyun Smith.

"The woman entered the vehicle with "trepidation,"
Well, apparently her trepidation was overcome by the desire not to appear racist. That fear has become so powerful that it actually overrides the will to survive. God-given instincts.
Someone better tell the "Dartanyun's" of the world that Uber isn't a service for delivering White girls like pizza.
Figures Dart's mom wouldn't know how to spell D'Artagnan. The surprise is that she even knew the name.
Indeed
Yep that struck me too. Was his mom a fan of the Three Musketeers???
figure Dartnyun needs to meet Cheetoria Jones, who works at a convenience store, if he doesn’t meet a nice guy in jail.
When youre matched with a driver, youll see their name, license plate number, photo, and ratingso you know whos picking you up ahead of time. And even after the trip, youre able to contact your driver if you left something behind. The woman was stupid. What's the point of supplying the passenger with the driver's name and picture, if she doesn't check it against the guy who just showed up?
Has any living person ever noticed that the 3 Musketeers are NEVER EVER in proximity to a musket?
When booking a ride Uber using the app sends you a message telling you the make and model of the vehicle along with a photo of the driver. The Uber driver gets a picture of you. The passenger's screenshot looks like this:
Seems the poor girl didn't practice street smarts.
See my post 10.
Spot on. Bears repeating. How many little snowflakes have, and will yet, fall victim to this. Unbelievable how powerful is the desire to avoid social stigma versus the self-preservation instinct.
This goes to show how even the mere potential implication of racism has been weaponized with such destructive power.
Also, with the Uber app, you have the plate # and photo of your driver. This should be a lesson for people and I'm glad she wasn't murdered. It could have ended much worse.
Only the candy bar.
Not likely to find one of those.
if it weren’t considered rude, or be misconstrued, I would take her picture and post to you.
I went to school with a girl named “Percilla”.
Same problem.
What, her parents couldn’t spell “Godzilla?”
Well, for once he's not Amish. But why would a Frenchman do such a thing?
