When you’re matched with a driver, you’ll see their name, license plate number, photo, and rating—so you know who’s picking you up ahead of time. And even after the trip, you’re able to contact your driver if you left something behind.

The woman was stupid. What's the point of supplying the passenger with the driver's name and picture, if she doesn't check it against the guy who just showed up?

Spot on. Bears repeating. How many little snowflakes have, and will yet, fall victim to this. Unbelievable how powerful is the desire to avoid social stigma versus the self-preservation instinct.

This goes to show how even the mere potential implication of racism has been weaponized with such destructive power.

Also, with the Uber app, you have the plate # and photo of your driver. This should be a lesson for people and I'm glad she wasn't murdered. It could have ended much worse.

Officers saw the attack occurring in the back seat of the SUV and smashed the windows because the vehicle's doors were locked. Beck said. The attacker sped away and "dumped out" the victim a few blocks away, according to police.

Investigators analyzed DNA evidence from underneath the victim's fingernails, identified the suspect and served a search warrant Saturday that led to the arrest of 39-year-old Dartanyun Smith. Details regarding the arrest were not immediately available, but Beck said the man was arrested at a house in South Los Angeles.

Fortunately, the officers are able later to serve a search warrant, the DNA evidence checks out, and the perp would seem likely to be convicted unless one of the officers looked at him crosseyed.

He drove off? Whatever happened to, "The suspect attempted to flee. Officers fired 364 rounds leaving his bullet riddled corpse in the gutter." Or at least, "The suspect sped off through a hail of gunshots. The shots flattened all four tires but he was still able to outdistance the windmill powered LA police vehicles ...."

I guess in our post-Freddie Gray environment, using guns to interrupt a violent rape in progress is too hazardous for police?
