The Ideal Conceal handgun has made waves for what its maker calls an “ingenious” design that looks exactly like a smartphone when in the “locked” position.
Ideal Conceal says on its website that, indeed, hardly anybody will notice it: “Smartphones are EVERYWHERE, so your new pistol will easily blend in with today’s environment. In its locked position it will be virtually undetectable because it hides in plain sight.”
The Ideal Conceal weapon is a .380-caliber derringer. Two bullets in two barrels. While the gun is still patent-pending, It’s expected to be available by mid-2016 for $395 each.
“From soccer moms to professionals of every type, this gun allows you the option of not being a victim,” the company says. “Most threats will occur in less than a 30’ range. Ease and speed of deployment will mean the difference in the outcome. With the Ideal Conceal pistol you can be quick on the draw stopping a threat effectively and immediately.”

Gives a new meaning to having a second cell phone. . . police will really start looking askance at that phablet you are carrying. . .
Especially in .380. Why couldn't they stick a 9mm or even a .40 S&W in there? Hell, that handle looks hefty enough to handle a .357 Magnum or perhaps a .45ACP.
Innovative firearm development that may not get BATF / govt approval for fear this smartphone look alike gun will result in numerous incidents of fearful cops shooting innocent citizens brandishing a cell phone-weapon.
Somebody needs to post pictures of Mattel’s Agent Zero M Radio/Rifle and Camera/Pistol from the 60s. I had ‘em both! :-)
I’m a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment but it should be a felony to create a gun that does not look like a gun.

Sure, why not? They are already making it a crime to create/draw/imitate using fingers/donuts/pencils what looks like the shape of a gun.
Might was well cover all bases.
That way, you can't have a gun that looks like a gun, nor one that doesn't look like one.

Let's see... trigger, barrels, grip. Looks like a gun to me. Or are you saying no weapons should be able to be concealed?
If that is your position, I must strongly disagree. The 2nd says I can bear arms; it doesn't specify that I must advertise it, nor what the arms may look like.
P.S. Although this one looks like a cell phone, there have been various models of disguised guns on the market for a long time.
It’d be hard to make a gun that could pass as an iPhone.

I guess I date myself if I admit I had both of those as a child.
I also had a belt fed machine gun that fired plastic bullets, even had the tripod stand.
