Down Memory Lane: What "Conservatives" Said About Palin, 2008
Self | 3/15/2016 | LS

As part of my ongoing Trump campaign biography, I thought it would be interesting to see what so-called "conservatives" had to say about Sarah Palin in 2008. Turns out, it's not much different than what they have said about Trump (i.e., hatred):

Remember how the so-called conservative media treated Sarah Palin in 2008? Charles Krauthammer wrote, “with Palin, the case against Obama evaporates.” Palin’s choice, he claimed, “negates the theme of readiness” to assume the office. Referring to her as a “wing-nut candidate,” Krathammer wrote of Palin’s “inevitable liabilities” due to the fact that any “unvetted neophyte has ‘issues,’” such as “the kid” and the “state trooper investigation.” (By “kid” it is not clear of Krathammer was referring to her handicapped child, Trig, or to her daughter, Bristol. Kathleen Parker piled on, insisting “She’s out of her league.” Palin, Parker wrote, “is a problem . . . . She doesn’t know enough about economics and foreign policy to make Americans comfortable with a President Palin . . . .” Admitting her finger was “poised over the mute button” during a Palin interview, Parker concluded “my cringe reflex is exhausted.” David Kahane of National Review lampooned McCain’s “insane, opportunistic, clueless, out-of-touch and breathtakingly audacious, game changing pick of Sarah Marshall Palin” in a reference to a 2008 movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Byron York, writing a solid defense of Palin’s governorship of Alaska, nevertheless repeated the line that people couldn’t decide if Palin “is incompetent, stupid, unqualified, corrupt, backward, or—or, well, all of the above.” Red State’s Erick Erickson joked that he was starting a “leper colony” for conservatives who criticized Palin.

I remember when she was first introduced and Obama totally FREAKED OUT and came out against her as a mayor from a no name town in Alaska.

He knew she had the goods to end his campaign.

Too bad the GOPe, working hand in hand with the left, destroyed her reputation.

We need to shed the NeoCons, people. We need to shed them.

They now hate her and have replaced her with their newly beloved hero, Beck!

The fasting and stabbing will continue until Cruz wins!

IIRC, hero Glenn was having a hissy fit about having something done to his a$$ - like getting a hemorrhoid lanced or something.

There really is a Uniparty. Every 4 years it puts on a little show for the proles where candidates pretend to fight against each other. It really doesn’t matter if candidate A or B is elected; the elites continue to inch forward their agenda. That’s what matters. Outsiders are not welcome. They might disrupt the status quo.

After his private session with the Secret Service, Glenn probably has no more hemorrhoid problems!

I consider myself conservative and I liked Governor Palin from the moment I saw her give a speech on all the natural resources that Alaska could provide the nation, if it were allowed to do so.

Of course, there are many conservatives and they have many opinions. The Republican party is not the Borg (Star Trek, not tennis) party.

I liked Palin in 2008, did not think she herself was serious about the 2012 run. But the point is, these so-called “conservatives” NEVER want anyone the public likes. They “know better.”

You are correct, it was the GOP-e who was hyper-ventilating over Palin. NOT CONSERVATIVES.

The reason: PALIN FOUGHT THE CORRUPTION OF THE GOP IN ALASKA, AND SHE WON !!!!!!

The GOP-e could not fathom having Palin anywhere near their (formerly) hidden corruption; it’s not hidden anymore, but much more has to be revealed.

What I never figured out was what happened to the relationship she had with Ted Cruz. Sad.

Hmmmm ..?? I haven’t seen or heard anything from Beck in several weeks (at least). He made a really off the wall statement recently, and ever since then I have not seen him as being connected to Cruz. In fact, I have not seen or heard about him in the media at all.

I don’t know what happened, but I have a feeling when Cruz got rid of his staff member, that might have been the link between Cruz and Beck. Don’t know - just guessing.

I recall the interest in her when certain groups thought that they could use her to advantage- the REAL Vogue article (with some of the best photos ever taken of her IMO) for example. Oh, yes, I remember many of the same claws tearing at her in 2008 that are currently tearing at Donald Trump.

Did Beck comment about their fascists stopping Trump’s Chicago visit?

Hmmm ..?? That doesn’t sound familiar .. I actually don’t remember what he said; I just remember my reaction when I heard it .. because I surmised it would be a huge problem for Cruz people.

Palin could have been an awesome GOP machine-—but McCain’s team destroyed her rather than build her up. When you have Roger Staubach, you let him run when he needs to.

I was a delegate to the 2008 NH Rep Convention. People had the McCain/Palin stickers cut in half, eliminating McCain,
