Happy Pi Day!

No, not National Pie Day. That's January 23.

On this day, geeks go wild at the mere thought of celebrating pi — the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter.

pi = 3.1415926535897932384626433832795 or 3.14 for short.

It’s also Einstein’s birthday!

In Princeton, NJ they have a big festival today celebrating Pi and Einstein. People go around wearing silly Einstein wigs.

Just to be exact. Pi doesn’t equal anything. It’s irrational. I will celebrate the day by doing something irrational, of course.

On a recent homework assignment my daughter was having trouble with her seventh grade Common Core math. They are not allowed to take their books home, so parents have to learn from the study sheets and their examples that went something like this:
Solve the circumference of a circle with a diameter of 314 using PI (3.14).

In the same assignment:
What is the C of a CD with a D of 3.5 inch?

People go around wearing silly Einstein wigs.

Except that today they will claim they are Bernie Sanders wigs.
