Why I told Cavuto yesterday that #NeverTrump is absolutely insane(Herminator)
canadafreepress.com ^ | 3/3/2016 | Herman Cain

Posted on 03/03/2016 6:43:29 AM PST by rktman

You wouldn’t think you’d be inviting mass condemnation simply because you make the simple statement that Republicans should support whoever is the Republican nominee in the general election. That’s about as boilerplate a political position as you’re going to hear anywhere. Yet I saw yesterday that I was trending all over social media because I said on Cavuto (and again later on Hannity) that it’s absolutely insane for Republicans to try to sabotage Donald Trump, when there is every reason to believe he could end up the Republican nominee.

So if folks decide to not support Trump, does that mean they'd prefer to endure another, at least 4 years, of dems in the white house? I suppose those that decide to not rally behind the nominee could always move to Canada with al sharpton. Oh, if his pal hildebeast or bernie were to win, I guess he won't be moving.

Primary movers behind #NeverTrump are Social Conservative

Ronald Reagan has words for the Soc Cons.

“A man who is 75-80% on my side is a valued Friend and Ally, not my enemy”.

Curious Social Conservative,

What in the last 40 years have any GOP President done to stop the ever increasing number of Abortions?

I know this falls on deaf ears at with 100%ers but the fact remains, We are a Constitutional Republic that rests on the notion that the people’s Representatives in Government know how to compromise and negotiate. Your chmaping Cruz's record demonstrates a total inability to actually govern anything.

This notion that Cruz will ride into DC and dictate his 100%er terms to everyone else there is simply wishful thinking.

Really think Clinton, “Cult of Sanger and Abortion”, is going to REDUCE the number of abortions or is she going to do things that will massively increase them?

This “Never Trump” meme is the behavior of petulant children looking to spite everyone because 100% of theri desires were not granted. It has nothing at all to do with anything resembling principals or reason.

Trump is a serious test of where our contemporary politicians are.

Even Obama, in a way, was the same old same old for those people. They wheeled and dealed, just differently.

Trump is going to demand they sit up and pay attention and maybe actually care about something larger than they are (the sizable segment of the people that Trump has organized into a parade). This is closer to their official job description, but it’s intolerable to those who have transformed it into a don’t-rock-the-boat sinecure.

“The Republican Party establishment, which is now in such a panic over Trump’s candidacy, needs to understand one of the reasons Trump is doing so well is that Trump voters don’t feel the Republican establishment listens to them. And by trying to sabotage Trump, they are once again not listening to these folks.”

Cain hits nail on head.

GOPe mindlessly repeats failed actions and expects different results.

Cain is about as common sense a conservative as any. He and Carson could, if they choose, help end this insanity of the GOP colluding with the democrats and using KKK smears to try to demolish Trump as a candidate and as a man

No wonder the GOP establishment is ignoring Clintons probable treasonous misuse of national security intelligence - they plan to vote for her

Magic state wands of fiat are not going to work in today’s America towards a desideratum of social conservatism. The pretense should have gone long ago, but it certainly is gone now.

In a pregnant moment (no pun intended, or maybe I should intend a pun) Trump spoke of revisiting Roe v. Wade. Of course to hear this is to ask how.

There are small-L libertarian takes that elevate the life of the unborn, even if they still fall shy of a full on personhood doctrine. By wisely following freedom, we can get close to where a clampdown might theoretically get us, and yet it will have a far larger carrot quotient and a far smaller stick quotient in it.

I notice the irony of a column by Sullum yesterday, supposedly elevating libertarianism in matters abortion and managing to arrive in Diamond Hard Heart City. What good is a liberty that’s based on hate? Yet he finds he has to hate. Actual moral reason might yet persuade these people.

I’m still not a Trump supporter (yes, I will vote for him if...)but I could become one.

The establishment GOP is working a whole lot harder to defeat him than they worked against Obama.

I can see that trying to insert Romney into the mix is asserting that they absolutely don’t want a Republican president.

“Never Trump” also means “ Never Cruz”

Oh they may pay lip service to a Cruz candidacy but they hate the guy and will find Hillary much easier to work with in maintaining the status quo

Is this praising Trump with faint damnation, especially when noticing that this is the non abortion wing of PP being discussed here?

When you boil it down, how many times have any of us gotten 100% of the promises made during the can’tpaign? If some are so foolish to believe all the BS swirling around, well, that’s on them. Will “the wall” ever get constructed? Questionable. Will trespassers be sent packing by the bus load? Probably not. Will there be a huge economic recovery? Questionable. Will there be the possibility of some positive change? Could be. One issue voters, if you choose based on that single issue, you’re gonna be disappointed. But, I sure as hell don’t want sanders of hildebeast carrying on what the lyin’ king has started. Will I be able to put my flag back on the flag pole after November? Or will it stay folded in the closet.

To the GOP elites, Hillary in the White House is much better than Trump.

They get to spend four years doing nothing but complaining, and keep their positions as the “honorable opposition”.

If Trump truly is a liberal fraud, and governs that way, the GOP gets to oppose him with majorities in the House and Senate, will pad those majorities in the mid terms and will be able to fend off any populist Presidential candidate for a generation.

The danger to the GOP is Trump getting elected and governing as he says he will. They’ll have to spend another thirty years living with the expectations that Trump creates for future GOP candidates.

It’s like Reagan. Every GOP leader has to genuflect before the Reagan legacy, even while they allow open borders and government run health care, huge deficits and all the rest.

Much better for the GOP to have Hillary. No question.
