KASPAROV ON BERNIE SANDERS: SOCIALISM CORRODES THE HUMAN SPIRIT
Front Page Mag.com ^ | 3/2/2016 | Daniel Greenfield

Chess Grandmaster Garry Kasparov lived in the USSR and he is not feeling the bern.

I'm enjoying the irony of American Sanders supporters lecturing me, a former Soviet citizen, on the glories of Socialism and what it really means! Socialism sounds great in speech soundbites and on Facebook, but please keep it there. In practice, it corrodes not only the economy but the human spirit itself, and the ambition and achievement that made modern capitalism possible and brought billions of people out of poverty. Talking about Socialism is a huge luxury, a luxury that was paid for by the successes of capitalism. Income inequality is a huge problem, absolutely. But the idea that the solution is more government, more regulation, more debt, and less risk is dangerously absurd.

Kasparov is Rubio-loving garbage. A shame, since as a chess player, I admired how he demolished the Soviet chess machine and their stooge Karpov throughout the 80s and 90s.

Well Bernie’s campaign is kinda corroded away too. Shouldn’t that old man be enjoying his retirement already? The senate is like a country club and a hospice as well. The perks must be outstanding because they all want to leave in the stiff, horizontal position.

Kasparov’s twitter, I look now and then, I don’t know if he is a big Rubio fan or what. He’s usually not too happy.

Post 5 I have a link from his own website where he more or less endorses Rubio, at least as the “least offensive” candidate.

I think Kasparov is a relic of a bygone era. He is still mired in the 1980s. The rest of the world has moved on. People today, especially young people, have no recollection of Socialism or its offshoots. It just sounds good to them. Kasparov is a nobody to them...

Sanders is a neanderthal. His unflinching support of a failed, 175 year-old economic philosophy that has literally failed everywhere is like believing the earth is flat.

But why is it that someone who calls America "racist" and points to slavery in the 19th century or Jim Crow laws in the early 20th century is not likewise dismissed as a "relic?"

Because those are trendy and popular positions. That is what schools and colleges today teach. Saying such things is perfectly fine...
