I’m a giant Trump supporter and held Sen Cruz in the highest esteem until the Carson issue. I still respect Sen Cruz and wish him well. I don’t cAll him names and I don’t insult his supporters on FR. Wish the same could be said for some of the Cruz supporters on FR.

I'm a Trump supporter even though Cruz is a better man mainly because Trump is literally paving the way through the media and establishment. Cruz can follow Trump or he can follow Rubio, and I strongly suggest the former. If Trump grows tiresome then Cruz can take over.

Regarding the Carson issue, I think it shows Cruz has a weak staff. Perhaps they are too eager or just stupid. Cruz could and should do better than that.

“I’m a giant Trump supporter and held Sen Cruz in the highest esteem until the Carson issue.”

Yeah, as opposed Trump saying about Carson: “If you’re pathological, there’s no cure for that,” Trump said. “If you’re a child molester, there’s no cure. They can’t stop you”. I can certainly see how that doesn’t even compare to Cruz or enter into your consideration of Trump.

What aren't those Iowa Carson supporters being held accountable for voting for Cruz, if they did.

I mean, would you vote for Cruz if I told you Trump was going back to run his empire.

Cruz's people only repeated what CNN had said, taking a campaign break.

Cruz apologize for Carson, I don’t recall God ever saying we’d all be perfect even after the Cross. If this were an ongoing thing it would be one thing, but it’s not.

I second #13. Cruz has been a little sneaky, his campaign doesn't seem to live up to the high ethic he tries to project. Also, frankly, the level of discourse - the name calling against Trump and his supporters is almost as bad as DU.

Does anyone really think typing tRump in support of Cruz makes Cruz look good?

The biggest effective detractors from Cruz of late have been his own supporters here on FR - not all - but I think we all know the ones I'm talking about.

I like Cruz, think Trump would be more effective, but Cruz has sunk a level in my eyes. Trump is also testing me, but I always knew he would.

Until the Carson issue? When Trump called him psycho?

I'm a giant Trump supporter and held Sen Cruz in the highest esteem until the Carson issue.

A CNN reporter tweeted that Carson was not going to New Hampshire or South Carolina after he left Iowa. Someone on Cruz's staff interpreted that to mean that Carson was dropping out of the race. I would have interpreted the reporter's words exactly the same way. If Carson was not going to visit the states hosting the next two primaries, why would anyone believe that he was still in the race?

In perfect hindsight, the Cruz staffers should have waited for confirmation from Carson. They did not, and Cruz apologized for their mistake.

The notion that this was anything more than a mistake falls apart on examination. Had Cruz or his staff known that Carson was not dropping out, they would also have known that Carson would quickly reaffirm that he was still running. The "dirty campaign trick" was guaranteed to blow up in the face of the Cruz campaign within hours. It would lose votes for Cruz in all subsequent primaries. That would have been obvious to Cruz and his staff.

It would have been an incredibly stupid campaign stunt.

Ted Cruz is not stupid. He would not have done it.
