Obama's foreign policy incompetence encouraging Putin to go to war with Turkey

I remember a lot of people speculating about what would have happened in the world if Jimmy Carter had been elected to a second term. Many believed that the Soviets would have taken advantage of Carter's weakness and confusion to confront NATO, believing that the U.S. would be paralyzed into inaction.

Something similar could happen today, according to some analysts. Vladimir Putin's saber-rattling at Turkey could become more than bluster if the Russian strongman doesn't think that the U.S. and NATO would go to war if Moscow attacked Turkey.

The Russians are beginning military exercises in the region immediately adjacent to their border with Turkey. The exercises are a threat because Russian troops will be on the highest level of alert short of war. And Russian rhetoric aimed at Turkey has become more bellicose as events in the Syrian city of Aleppo may force Turkey to try and intervene in the conflict.

Putin does not think NATO would respond with weak U.S. leadership so it would also destroy the credibility of NATO.

The leftist MSM (but then I repeat myself) are always harping on Republican candidates because of no foreign policy experience which brings into question 0bama’s or lack thereof.

Purely looking at Russia’s lack of performance against the Ukraine I’d rather doubt that Russia would want a direct confrontation with Turkey unless, maybe, they could pinch-off a piece of territory and limit the confrontation.

But a lot of things would happen. Turkey would close the Bosporus to Russian traffic and the Russian expeditionary forces in Syria would likely end up in a Turkish prison camp for lack of re-supply.

These are the all too predictable consequences of electing an idiot because he happened to be a color that gave Liberal Media orgasms.

The problem is that Liberal media has too much influence over the elections, and that is the threat that we ought to be launching a "Manhattan Project" to correct.

The Liberal Media monopoly needs to be broken and destroyed. If it is not addressed, it will cause the deaths of millions.

The Russians need to have more babies. One of the reasons fecundity was always so important in the history of man is because that is the avenue from which real power grows.

Turkey is not done. Islamic nations will always be a threat to the rest of the world so long as they remain Islamic.

This all goes back to Crimea...and the illusion that it rightly belongs to Ukraine.

You have to go back to Catherine the Great and see the terms associated with the Treaty with the Turks. It was never meaant to go to a third party, i.e., Ukraine.

Now the whole friggin' world is suffering under these sanctions and it's stupid.

“This all goes back to Crimea...”

No. This all goes back to Putin believing in an expansionist Russia/Soviet Union.

If it weren’t for NATO and the US, Russia would never have left Germany, Poland, Czech...etc.

If there is a vacuum created by good forces retreating, the vacuum will be filled with tyrants and that is where Putin’s Russia comes in.

God, I should hope not. Turkey shouldn’t even be in NATO.
