Looking at that map, it’s amazing how many states that presidents were not born in. It’s amazing, by now, we haven’t had a president from all 13 original states.
The argument for Cruz stated that laws since the Constitution have changed what is written in the Constitution. Silly me. I thought only amendments could change the Constitution.

Natural Born Citizen = born on the soil of the country to two citizen parents.
Ted Cruz fails both requirements.

So my BIL, who was born overseas because his father was a businessman, whose parents’ American heritage date back to Powhatan on his mother’s side and 1832 on his father’s side, whose older and younger brother both born in the US could be President, is not eligible to President?

The only ‘scholars’ whose opinions count are the ones by whom the definitive answer would be given in the ultimate extreme - the USSC to be specific.
And yes, when I use the term ‘scholars’ in connection with the USSC it is a stretch, but as one might say “there you have it.”

I don’t know why many of you find this to be so difficult a concept to understand.
No law is required. No statute is required. No rule is required. No regulation is required. Citizenship is determined by an act of natural consequence.
A child born of 2 citizen parents, in his country (or jurisdiction of his country) is a natural born citizen. It’s so obvious and simple to understand. Sheesh....
