That was silly to quote the pope on this subject. She was obviously trying to get him to say something negative about the pope, so she could have a ‘gotcha’ moment. Couric could then feel so smug that she just tripped up another candidate. How special for her. uggh. That’s how she thrives on her reporting abilities, it’s what her goal is - to seeing someone she doesn’t like hang themselves.
Ted: You and I both remember the 1970's when there was a big push towards global cooling. We were told there was going to be a new ice age. . . There were politicians who said the solution to global cooling was increased government control of the environment, of the economy, (etc.) . . . Well, the data didn't back that up, and so then the theory changed from global cooling to global warming. And, interestingly enough, the solution was the same - more gov't control of the economy in our lives. But then, the data didn't back that up. It wasn't, in fact, warming. So now, it has changed into what is the perfect political, pseudo-scientific theory, which is climate change. . . . Climate change is a perfect political theory because it can never be disproven. Whether it gets hot or cold . . . . no matter how it changes, it's always proven right, and the solution yet again is more government control . . .

Couric: . . . . So, basically, I'm just trying to understand your position on climate change. You think that it is unproven that it's happening and that nothing should be done as a result . . .
