Stephen Colbert brings out Donald Trump's likeable side on 'The Late Show'
Conservative Examiner ^ | September 23, 201 | Scott Paulson

Stephen Colbert interviewed GOP presidential front-running candidate Donald Trump on Tuesday night, according to NBC on Wednesday morning. From the moment Colbert informed the audience that Trump would be appearing through to the post-interview comments Colbert continued to make after Trump left the stage, the atmosphere was comfortably amicable. As one knows, many Trump interviews have not been made comfortable for the billionaire or the audiences subjected to the interviews in the past several months. Colbert was spectacular with his interviewing skills as the newest host of “The Late Show” on NBC as he allowed Trump to be human and – for lack of a better term – quite likable.

I just watched this (two parts at the link below). Quite good, serious, and respectful.

I've expressed that sentiment on another thread. The real winner of the two interviews is Jimmy Fallon. "Trump interviews Trump" is an All Time Top 10 comedy skit classic.

“To the Republican Party money is speech”— Colbert

That’s as far as I got. I’m sure Trump did well, but Colbert is seriously not amusing or entertaining and, further, is stunningly ignorant.

He was rude to Cruz apparently (couldn’t watch), and appears to gush over Trump. Their views are similar on major issues.

Good—I don’t want Trump playing the inside game of DC. I want him to upset the game board and then establish a new way of doing things for the people who elected them.

Why can’t he sound like this during debates? Does he have Debate Fright?

Watched both segments.

Trump did well and the audience was receptive. Also good applause as the show was over.

I believe that the reason Trump is doing well is that the mass of people make their decision on vision and attitude not political stats or government details. Like Jeb is talking about in his town hall sleepers.

Obama proved this with “Hope and Change”.

Trump will prove this with “Make America Great Again”

First time I’ve watched Colbert on the Late Show. I agree, he is not funny and doesn’t hold a candle to Letterman.

Trump did fine but Colbert treated him well. It was a non event.

Unless I don’t understand the humor of the youth and the left, or Colbert had an off night, I can’t see Colbert building or even maintaining the rating of the show. The lead up to Trump was flat and boring. Once Trump finished I turned the set off. I had no expectation from the content up to that point whatever would follow could be worth staying up. I won’t be back to watch Colbert and I have no interest in Fallon.

Just more of the same, in regards their one and only issue. The supreme court done them wrong with the Citizens United decision. They will fight that to the death. It is one reason why they are not fighting for an Article V convention. Their interests are elsewhere until proponents have an amendment to take Corporations out of the political process. Just don’t mess with Unions that’s their bread and butter.

Jimmy Fallon is funny and treated Bush, Trump and Christie great. If he has had others I haven’t see them and I don’t know if Christie has been on recently. He had Hillary on as well. I suppose he’ll have most everyone on,

And Fallon’s show is funny. Never have understood why Colbert has a show. Years ago I watched him at a D.C. Press Club Dinner w/George Bush and I don’t think he got even one laugh.

You should watch the clips of Trump on Fallon’s show. Their skit was amazing. Actually, the Bush appearance was good too (and I’m not a fan of Bush, don’t get me wrong). Fallon tries to be fair with everyone and tries to have fun with each guest.

I think trump just went, ‘oh, ok, we’re going with the treat him like a clinically hyperactive nine year old. He’s liable to get very crazy, so act accordingly
