The captain made an announcement about the special retirement of this airplane: You are part of history tonight, this is the very last flight of this airplane, which was the first 747-400 ever built. It has carried millions of passengers millions of miles since its delivery in 1989″

Interestingly, Delta Air Lines operated the 747s, the Tristars and the McDonnell Douglas DC-10s at the same time.
Love this.
If I had it to do over again I’d pick pilot over Law School.
Just put me in business class upstairs and I am happy.
I’m right there with ya. I love what I do now, but dang, I sure love flying small planes too. Wish I had the time and money to get my pilot’s license, and the time and money to have my own plane and afford the insurance premiums.
Don’t forget, the pilot physical to keep a license.
If it ain’t Boeing, then I ain’t going!
My husband built the “shaker” that ran the plane through it’s pre-flight tests before it was released to the customer.
Ditto.
its hell
Same same and same!!
Met a guy that made the change from pilot to attorney.
He said the LSAT was the most difficult experience he ever had.
EVER!
If it ain’t an American or European airline, I ain’t going.
No Malaysia, no “some-ting-wong”, “we-too-low” pilots.
“The Sport Pilot rule allows a pilot to fly light-sport aircraft without the need for an FAA medical certificate. However, a sport pilot must hold at least a current and valid U.S. driver’s license in order to exercise this privilege. The only exceptions are for operations in a glider or balloon, which does not require a driver’s license. “
“Training requirements for a sport pilot certificate with airplane category
A minimum of 20 hours flight time including:
15 hours of flight training from an authorized instructor.
5 hours solo flight.”

If you must ask the price, you cannot afford it.
Far above my paygrade!
Thanks mountn man
Coincidence, my well connected friends are on that flight today to Frankfurt. I doubt they paid retail.
In the next 5 days, $21,418. After that, for the next month it goes down to about 12,750. $10,750 until about 10 weeks out, then drops to $7031.
If you got frequent flier miles, you could buy a business class ticket for $3119 and use 100,000 to upgrade to first, round trip.
The flying club I wanted to join at Flying Cloud Airport insisted I get a physical. Diabetes flunked me...
Might wan't to rethink that.

“The flying club I wanted to join at Flying Cloud Airport insisted I get a physical. Diabetes flunked me...”
Sorry to hear that. If you re safe to drive, then the FAA says that you are safe to fly Light Sport....UNLESS you have failed a Flight Physical.
The Flying Club must be for Private (or higher) pilots only.
To me it seems that driving a 2 ton automobile down the road presents more of a danger to the public than does flying a 1320 lb aircraft.
I guess Chicken Little carries the day.
