I need Freeper expertise. Does anyone have the generator pitched on Glenn Beck's show or the my solar backup (are they the same?).
I know it can't back the entire house up but we are looking for one that can run the fridge and/or freezer.
I just finished reading the survivalist series by A. American and Morgan (lead guy) had a solar generator.
Thanks in advance for your help!
I could also use the same advice. I went to myendlesspower.com (Beck’s sponsored site) just yesterday. All I am looking for is one that is not too expensive that will run a well pump and small chest freezer and fridge. I could even rotate. Thanks for any advice.
For later.
I bought goal zero yetti w four solar panels.
Expensive but seems to keep a good charge.
Are you in a place that the sun shines every day? Long period of cloudy weather can run you batteries dead. Can you even break even on these systems?
I was going to get one but there were too many cons on my list to get me to buy. I decided on a 5000 watt gas unit with a propane converted carb.
Glen’s - http://myendlesspower.com/
A natural gas home generator: http://www.generac.com/for-homeowners/home-backup-power
A solar system that can be used with a sterling engine http://www.solartronenergy.com/
yes, near Orlando.
I’m not thinking about breaking even per se but just want something quiet if the bottom falls out of society and something that doesn’t require fuel.
12 175 watt Solar Panels ($175 each on Craigs List)
8 T105 Batteries ($100 each)
1 60 Amp Charge Controller ($100)
1 Magnum MS4024PAE Inverter ($2200)
Miscellaneous Wire, Breakers, Boxes...($200)
24 Volt System
Backup Generator from Costco 8000 Watt, Gas/Propane ($700)
Generator tied to Inverter
Runs 384 Ft deep Well,Fridge,Freezer, all the light you want to run, TV,Satellite...,
During the Day time you can run just about anything.
Better buy something before September 23.
Input, maybe?
why sept 23?
The world ends...
....and a guy on FR named eyeamok
PRICELESS
Look on the devices that you want to power for the amperage they require or use an ammeter (or Kill A Watt Meter). Then you will know how much power you need ( volts x Amps = watts) Then see what solar cells and batteries meets that.
We sure won't have to worry about back up systems then!
Again.
Remember solar needs Full Sun, that's sunburn quality all day long or you won't produce much power ...
do you happen to have names of any plug and play options?
i’m in Central Florida; lots of sun
Right now, America desperately needs to have massive production of super-insulator, flexible, thin-sheet aerogel.
Aerogel was first invented in 1931, but was expensive and tended to crumble. Only recently have they figured out how to make it in the form of thin, flexible sheets.
Line your oven, freezer or refrigerator with it and once it is to temperature, if you don’t open the door, it will only need a fraction of the amount of energy to keep it at temperature, compared to a typical appliance.
