Archaeologists at Israel's Bar-Ilan University announced on Monday the discovery of a massive gate and other fortifications in the ruins of Gath, the hometown of the Bible's Goliath. The ancient gate is one of the largest ever discovered in Israel and evidence of the Philistine city's power in the 10th and ninth centuries B.C.E, head archaeologist Professor Aren Maeir says. It even made a brief appearance in the Bible when David, Goliath's slayer and future king of Israel, "acted like a madman, making marks on the doors of the gate and letting saliva run down his beard."

Massive gates ping.
Every month there is more evidence as to the truth of the Bible.
Hmm.... Who would have thunk that?/sarc
Bunch of Gath heads, big, dressed in balck?
Wouldn’t go to msn.com to look at it myself. Would love to see the article and pictures.
better source of actual news anyway
I’ve always wondered how something like this gets abandoned and ignored for so long that it gets covered in dirt.
Thanks BlueDragon, looked for this topic after I saw some articles on Bing, sorry I’d missed your ping. Hey, that rhymes.

All I know is that I made *one* observation about their original door being too small to fit furniture through, and the next thing I know, the wise guys re-engineered the door to allow a giant to walk through easily.
I mean, I know nothing about this and had no involvement whatsoever.
Following the link to 'images', among those right at the top were a couple that depicted David holding up Goliath's head -- after the young David had cut it off of Goliath's dead corpse.
The trouble was the first images I would have liked to use had a Getty stamp on them, even though the same illustration was apparently used at Wikimedia commons also.
Searching a bit further, I found the same image at http://catholic-resources.org/Art/Dore-OT.htm which makes me think any Getty image po-po out there in radio land can take a flying leap iftheydon'tlikeit.
Here's to hoping the image makes it past FR "preview" function. Sometimes images can show up in preview, but then be blocked
David letting the 'evil' out of Goliath? hehheh
And I was just thinking about abrupt removal of heads...
Glad to see you kicking out the jams.
Y’know, I’d not be surprised if Samson would have been a great furniture mover.
