The time has come to take action against thread hijackers.
Let me begin with an example of thread hijacking:
Like most Freepers, I am pro-life. Abortion and and euthanasia appall me, and marketing the results even more so. I support candidates who oppose the culture of death, and cheer when it is thwarted.
I also do not find it necessary to mention these facts on EVERY. FREAKING. THREAD.
There is a certain type of Freeper, though, who has no such restraint. For these zealots, any thread that deviates from the pro-life cause, no matter how trivially, is a heresy that must be immediately suppressed.
You are shocked by cruelty to animals? I guess that means you couldn't care less about the cruelty of THE MILLIONS OF CHILDREN ABORTED EVERY YEAR!!!!!
You lost a beloved pet? Why can't you mourn THE THOUSANDS OF ABORTED BABIES WHO DIED THE SAME DAY?!!!!
Your car shredded its transmission and you're looking at thousands of dollars in repairs? Why aren't you thinking about THE BABIES WHO WILL NEVER GROW UP TO BE AUTO MECHANICS BECAUSE THEY WERE ABORTED?!!!!
(OK, maybe I made that last one up.)
Arguing with these people is pointless. It's the same principle as wrestling with a pig - you just get muddy and the pig enjoys it. Similarly, trying to convince them that they are being rude is a waste of time - THE CAUSE is far more important little things like courtesy and respect.
So, what can we do about it?
We can get drunk.
I hereby propose The Thread Hijack Drinking Game. The rules are simple: When a poster tries to hijack an unrelated thread to his or her pet cause, you 1) reply to the hijack attempt by quoting the text in question, followed by the word "DRINK!", and 2) Take a drink (or any volume) of your favorite beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). Moderation is suggested on animal cruelty threads to avoid alcohol poisoning.
This game will not, I admit, solve the thread hijacking problem. But after a certain number of attempts we will no longer care.
And if anyone is offended by my little proposal, I can only say...
DRINK!

Just got a breaking news update. An officer was shot “ambush-style” just a while ago in Las Vegas. As soon as there is more news, I will ping you all to it.
Since last week, all patrol cars have had two officers in anticipation of the murder of law enforcement officers around the country.

That is scary when it’s close to home. We have some excellent officers in this Valley. It’s been an escalating problem here, lately, about officers being shot.
Stinking thugs have nothing better to do that rage at the machine when they should direct it at the parents who allowed them to raise themselves with no discipline.
Sadly, he’s not on the front lines where he can be taken care of.

Yep. I’m fortunate to have lived at a time when life was simpler, and people were kinder to each other. There are still pockets of that to be found, but with the coming storm, they are fewer and fewer.
Things are still pretty nice where I live.
One of the ‘leaders’ of the black lives matter group was calling for open season “on whites, cracker and cops”.
He further said that “you won’t know when a brother will be waiting around the corner to take you out”.
That sounds like a direct threat to me. And why is he not arrested is a mystery to me.
It’s starting to pucker up and look ugly out there, but it’s closer to bedtime that it is to breakfast so I won’t worry about the weather!
Maybe this week, I can finish up the filing and get my rocking chair back into usefulness! It has been the drop-off point for “Things To Do” for the last 6-8 months, and I would like to sit it in some day soon! It’s the perfect place to sit while doing hand work. And I have some projects to finish. :o]
Don’t you know? All the blacks have immunity now, thanks to Zero. Black Lives Matter is a home-grown terrorist group and to call it anything but “Klan-With-A-Tan” is not to recognize the danger it represents.
They are biting the hands that feed them, and the Day of Reckoning isn’t too far away.
