The media called Diana “Lady Di” or “Lady Diana” sometimes even though she was Princess of Wales.

Just to tick off the old man and Camilla, they should name her Princess Diana Goldsmith Middleton.

Interesting. Can’t wait to see if you’re right about that.

I see downthread you also mention Caroline as a possibility. That’s a beautiful name.

My opposition is to monarchy and other forms of one man rule as unsuited to the modern world.

Granted, ceremonial and symbolic monarchies may still sometimes be helpful as providing a stabilizing influence and alternative source of legitimacy in a crisis. There are also singular oddball cases like Monaco, a picturesque principality that disguises a business case as a combination tourist trap and tax and crime haven that France tolerates as a service to its own interests.

Monarchy though is a dangerous temptation to thuggish autocrats like Putin in Russia and dozens of other in the world's trouble zones and emerging nations. The regimes they establish tend to be brutal and wasteful, rarely last, and usually die bloody. In a world teeming with terrorists and awash in advanced weaponry and WMDs, monarchy is mostly a bad example.

Congrats to the parents on the birth. They may call her a little princess now, but in a couple of years she’ll be the Royal Terror.

“You should be ashamed.”

To be ashamed I would have to accept that these people are
better than everyone else, that’s royalty. I don’t. I am
a sovereign American citizen. Under the eyes of God and as
stated in our constitution, I am equal to any royalty and
am no serf, slave, prole or subject to no one but God.
You can go ahead and bow to them in acceptance of their
“royalty” but I know, know they are no better than anyone
else. And to put it all to rest, how dare any one under the
guise of “royalty” even think they are better than anyone
else.

From all I have seen, they are a lovely couple.

Even Johnny Rotten likes them.

“Freddie Gray was a drug dealer”

Ever hear of the Opium wars?

“Middleton, is the daughter of two hard-working middle-class entrepreneurs.”

You mean common serfs or subjects. Commoners definitely not
citizens.

“What, exactly, makes this energetic young couple “scum,” in your eyes?”

They are aristocrats, totalitarians. Might as well be
communists and they support it.

“They don’t work on a production line, so off with their heads!”

So, you think that people who work on a production line is
beneath royalty. Trust me, when these tards work that is if
they work it is strictly to their leisure.

We will certainly find out soon enough. Charlotte would be a nice return, in my eyes. Princess Charlotte of Wales died in childbirth in 1817, aged only 21. Her popularity was a marked contrast to that of her father, the Prince Regent, and, as heir to the throne (indeed, the only legitimate surviving grand-daughter of George III) she seemed to symbolise an optimistic and re-energised future for the monarchy and the nation. All that was tragically cut short.

I am hearing ‘Caroline’ from nobody else. So take it with a pinch of salt. The press doesn’t even have the name on there list of eight or nine possibilities. The bookies don’t seem to be mentioning it. I got the name from the broadcaster and former-MP, Gyles Brandreth, who is quite close to Prince Philip, and has links at court.

Either Caroline or Charlotte would suit me just fine!

The Brits use the term "the crown" to mean the government. It is nothing more than an acknowledgment of the Queen as head of state. The Queen has no political power, or at least is politically neutral.

We’ll find out in a couple of days, I imagine. I hope Elizabeth will be one of the princess’s names...second or third, etc.

"To be ashamed I would have to accept that these people are better than everyone else, that’s royalty. I don’t."

Essie was saying you should be ashamed for not being able to find it in your heart to wish a newborn baby well. She's right.

Pretty sure the baby's parents don't think they're "better" than anyone. William's words and actions have always given the opposite impression, and the same goes for Harry. They didn't choose to be born into the Windsor family. And Kate simply married the man she fell in love with.

" I am a sovereign American citizen. Under the eyes of God and as stated in our constitution, I am equal to any royalty and am no serf, slave, prole or subject to no one but God."

Well, of course you are. So are we all. No one has implied otherwise, and this article shouldn't make you feel threatened.

" You can go ahead and bow to them in acceptance of their “royalty”

Nonsense.

"but I know, know they are no better than anyone else. "

Yeah, you keep repeating that. Who are you trying to convince?

"And to put it all to rest, how dare any one under the guise of “royalty” even think they are better than anyone else."

Wow. There it is again. Inferiority much?

You're dealing with a lot of anger. I hope your day gets better.

Your reply lacks logic.

William and his wife are not responsible for the fact that Great Britain was involved in the Opium Wars, any more than you are responsible for the deeds of your ancestors and their government; we cannot control the behavior of people long dead.

I point out that Catherine comes from middle-class origins and you don't seem to like that, either. Do you also hate the middle class?

The British monarchy and aristocracy doesn't hold people in subjugation and doesn't have much power at all these days. It's not clear what you're resenting, but the Brits have as much opportunity for advancement as we do, and arguably a government system at least as representative as ours. In any case these young people are not in control of the election choices Brits make and are definitely not commies, as you maintain without evidence.

So the Windsor kids don't work as hard as you think they ought. As mentioned, William is a serving military officer and pilot. Kate is a stay-at-home mother. Not rough work, but so what? Why do you care if someone doesn't have to work hard?

Do you hate everybody who is rich and happy, or just those who inherited money, or just Brits? Whatever your answer, you might do well to ask yourself why it makes you so angry.
