We will certainly find out soon enough. Charlotte would be a nice return, in my eyes. Princess Charlotte of Wales died in childbirth in 1817, aged only 21. Her popularity was a marked contrast to that of her father, the Prince Regent, and, as heir to the throne (indeed, the only legitimate surviving grand-daughter of George III) she seemed to symbolise an optimistic and re-energised future for the monarchy and the nation. All that was tragically cut short.

I am hearing ‘Caroline’ from nobody else. So take it with a pinch of salt. The press doesn’t even have the name on there list of eight or nine possibilities. The bookies don’t seem to be mentioning it. I got the name from the broadcaster and former-MP, Gyles Brandreth, who is quite close to Prince Philip, and has links at court.

Either Caroline or Charlotte would suit me just fine!
