Full Title: Bodies of 2 dead children were left in Detroit freezer for more than a year, mother in custody: police
Two children who were found dead inside a freezer in a Detroit home Tuesday, had been in the container for more than a year, police said.
Authorities found the bodies of the two children, a 14-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy, in an apartment in the city's east side, Detroit Officer Jennifer Moreno told the Daily News.
Assistant Chief Steve Dolunt told the Detroit News the bodies appear to have been in the freezer "for over a year." She lived in another apartment at the complex with her two other children, police said.
"She's been living there with other children while the bodies were in the freezer," he said. "This is a terrible situation."
The children were inside a plastic bag in the freezer, Moreno said. She declined to comment if the bodies had been dismembered.
A court officer had gone to the home Tuesday morning to conduct an eviction, she said. It was during his search of the property that he found the children, she said.
"Terrible find this afternoon," Police Chief James Craig said, according to ClickOnDetroit.Com. "It was during that eviction process that they discovered two young children in a freezer ... they were inside a bag and appeared to be frozen."
A neighbor told authorities where the mother was located, the chief said. Police did not identify a motive, the website reported.
The children's mother is in custody for questioning but no charges have been filed at this time, Moreno said. Police have identified her as a "person of interest."
The identities of the mother and the children are not being released. The cause of death will be determined by the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office.
Moreno declined to release additional information on the investigation.
Two other children were also in the home and were transported to protective services, according to TV station WXYZ.

Heaven only knows the full story behind this horror. If the remaining children are old enough, they too ‘know something’.
Let me guess, she continued to utilize any social service benefits due to her were the children still living.
Let me guess again, if the school district called about the kids, the Mom said, they had moved out of state with their ‘fathers’. Or, she may just be a murdering mom on meth.
She was probably still getting full benefits for food stamps, rent subsidy, etc. based on four children.
There's nothing wrong with the city, it's the inhabitants that are still living there.........
Detroit is indeed seeing a rebirth but it's beginning from its center and spreading outward.....
Eventually these scum and their decrepit neighborhoods will be gone.........
Another reason why motherhood doesn’t confer any special insight or anything else except the assurance that someone somewhere practiced unprotected sex with the individual.

No different than any other city really. You have your high crime neighborhoods and your low crime neighborhoods.
The crime rate is on its way down since we got open/concealed carry, stand your ground laws and a pro second amendment police chief.
As a side note, a black friend of mine who worked in my plant as a jig and fixture builder owns a restaurant downtown...as well as a number of hair styling salons throughout Detroit.
