AMC series.....not bad. I downloaded all 10 episodes from DirectV and binge watched. About colonial intrigue and spying in NY, Conn, NY at the time of Howe’s occupation in NY.

Turn is the TV version of the Culper Spy Ring story — George Washington’s web of spies which still have not been completely identified and which helped win the Revolutionary War.

I, too, have all 10 episodes recorded. It’s a little hard to follow at times, so it helps to watch it over again. I plan to watch the first 10 episodes before episode 11 is shown on April 13.

Better do it quick. If you have DirectV those episodes have an expiration date on them. I missed the last 10 minutes of episode 10.....I was pissed!

I watched season 1 last year (found out about it while watching "Mad Men") and really enjoyed it.

There were a couple historical inaccuracies (Anna Strong was ten years older than Abraham Woodhull and there is no reason to think that they were ever romantically involved; additionally, Woodhull didn't get married until after the Revolution.), but it's definitely worth watching. My biggest problem with it is the portrayal of Major John André. André is portrayed as being fairly dishonorable which is at odds with everything ever written about him.

History based Drama. Obviously the drama is added but the history appears to be very solid and its backed up by some very solid acting.

Angus Macfadyen plays my favorite character. Robert Rodgers is an enemy but a truly fascinating historical figure who still affects us today. Our guerrilla warfighting strategies can be traced back to him and Rogers Rules are still used in our military.

They did manage to include a sodomite but it was not in a favorable light.

I'm pretty sure you can still watch all of the episodes on AMC's website.

James Patrick Riley gave it a great review.

Our Take on Turn

I also enjoy a story of the American Revolution that is unashamed to recognize the British as the bad guys. They were, after all, morally compromised, fighting for a cause you can tell they had trouble believing.

We live in a great, though fading republic, and the truth is: we need a lot more of these stories. We shouldn’t be counting them on one hand.

They throw some serious star power into it.

I get a different feeling about John André. He seems very uncomfortable with a conflict between duty, morality, and loyalty.

Possibly. I plan to rewatch season 1 before the new season starts and I will pay more attention.

André is probably the only person that America has executed that NOBODY really wanted to execute.
