A question about vaccines, current world population

Posted on 02/08/2015 5:30:26 PM PST by big bad easter bunny

So with all the discussions about vaccines, I did some more studying on the subject and vaccines go way back in time. Government has also mandated them for as long. So what would be the current population be if we never had a created a vaccine for anything, ever? Any epidemiologist slash statistician want to take a stab?

Immediately subtract two from our total, for the two babies aborted whose cloned cells are used today in many vaccines.

Measles has caused five million deaths, most all of those prior to the introduction of the measles vaccine.

Since the introduction of measles vaccine, the world’s population has doubled.

It would not be a stretch to determine that the measles vaccine has saved millions of lives.

A lot of these diseases don’t kill you, generally. I think smallpox was the biggest killer, and I think that was the first vaccine developed. So, in terms of world population that is probably the most important one, I doubt most of the others would have a noticeable effect. But of coursed they have saved people from much suffering, disability and yes, to a small extent death.

I think they’re good, in theory. The least we deserve is a listing of all the ingredients. When I was at UConn, they were giving out free flu shots. That day, I got my flu shot. I happened to ask my virology prof I she got hers. She said she would NEVER get one because of all the garbage in them.

The gov’t has had to pay over a billion dollars in settlement for damage from vaccines...or so I’ve read.

It’s my understanding the world population was stable at around 300,000,000 for thousands of years, starting to increase only a 200-300 years ago.

They don’t vaccinate kids for small pox anymore. I suppose the disease is no longer a threat? They vaccinate for chicken pox but not small pox.

You really think that India, Africa, South America, and China have vaccination rates any where near "herd immunity" percentages? World population increases have happened in third world countries where they can't possibly afford vaccinations to cover enough of the population.

You know what saves millions of lives?? Nutrition. It turns out Measles is devastating to a starving population. So do you think that food distribution has improved over the same time period as the measles vaccine? I do. So when you see a starving kid do you think to yourself that poor kid needs a measles vaccine?? or do you think some food would be the correct medicine?

But that's if you want to argue this scientifically. Which is the red herring. This is all about freedom and the right to do what we want to our bodies. When you argue freedom from the dictates of government this is in the proper perspective.

Thomas Jefferson’s letter to Edward Jenner, father of vaccination.

To Dr. Edward Jenner Monticello, May 14, 1806

SIR,
— I have received a copy of the evidence at large respecting the discovery of the vaccine inoculation which you have been pleased to send me, and for which I return you my thanks. Having been among the early converts, in this part of the globe, to its efficiency, I took an early part in recommending it to my countrymen. I avail myself of this occasion of rendering you a portion of the tribute of gratitude due to you from the whole human family. Medicine has never before produced any single improvement of such utility. Harvey’s discovery of the circulation of the blood was a beautiful addition to our knowledge of the animal economy, but on a review of the practice of medicine before and since that epoch, I do not see any great amelioration which has been derived from that discovery. You have erased from the calendar of human afflictions one of its greatest. Yours is the comfortable reflection that mankind can never forget that you have lived. Future nations will know by history only that the loathsome small-pox has existed and by you has been extirpated.

Accept my fervent wishes for your health and happiness and assurances of the greatest respect and consideration.

“I think they’re good, in theory”

For those who had friends crippled by polio it’s more than theory.

Not a direct answer to the question but a good peek into history and population:

By the way the video has a definite Progressive mindset of population control at the end. I do not Stand by that, God Created and said Go Fore and Multiply!

Gen 1:28 (rsv)
“And God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth”

The prediction of population growth actually turns out to be all about public health and per capita income. In general, the poorer and sicker the populace, the more likely it will be driven to overpopulation. One can easily find dozens of articles on the Web that explain the dynamics.

Logically, there would be more people on Earth if vaccines were never developed, but they would be poorer and sicker.

“so who is opposed to the measles or polio vaccines? I mean really. seems like a made-up issue”

I suspect, in my cynical way, that this is a media campaign leading up to stern Government action to solve a “crisis”.

I watched a crime show, Special Victims Unit, that had measles worked into the plot. A woman was arrested for murder for having an unvaccinated child who gave someone else measles, who died.

Yes it’s a problem but the sudden flood of media attention looks like pending FedGov action.

The only problem I see is the spread of illegals coming across the border. Many of these children aren’t vaccinated

Even legal immigrants are not screened, since 1981 iirc, because that would be unfair to AIDS immigrants.

Improved nutrition along with a clean water supply, and indoor plumbing contribute more to the overall well-being of people than vaccines can, but where’s the $$$$$$$ in any of that.

From the CDC, published on Vox Day’s blog:

1900-1909: 8377 deaths per year (average) associated with measles.
1920-1929: 6659 deaths per year (average) associated with measles.
1953-1962: 444 deaths per year (average) associated with measles.
1959-1962: 404 deaths per year (average) associated with measles.

The measles vaccine was introduced in 1963.

That means that 95.1 percent of the decline in measles mortality had NOTHING to do with vaccination. It could not have. The vaccine had not yet been introduced.

‘__________but where’s the $$$$$$$$ in any of that.’

The measles vaccine discussion continues.
Yes, improved hygiene and sanitation, nutrition - good food - which boosts the immune system, clean drinking water - all contributed to a drop-off of measles.
I believe going back some years, in Europe there was no measles and no vaccines for it.

Have you ever seen the ingredients in vaccines??
Nasty ingredients injected right into the closed blood system - which is closed for a reason.

Autism from vaccines is not the only disease to be concerned about.
There is concern for diseases that happen ‘down the road.’
From vaccines.

What do the pharmaceuticals have to gain - - ??? $$$$$
Ever hear of the revolving door - where a government employee retires then goes to work for one pharmaceutical or other? Nice. Not.

Visit ‘NVIC,’ and ‘Barbara Loe Fisher.’
And ‘A Shot In The Dark.’
‘National Health Federation’
Homeopathic ‘vaccines.’
All resources to gain information.

You all do what you want, and leave the others alone, for gosh sakes.
