Oprah’s In Town For That White House Screening of ‘Selma’

But you might need to breathe rarefied air to catch a glimpse: the TV mogul will be attending that screening of “Selma” (she’s the film’s producer) at the White House on Friday afternoon that we told you about. President Obama invited members of the cast and crew, along with some Washington dignitaries, to chow down on presidential popcorn and watch the civil-rights-era flick.

I’ll bet Moochelle is not a happy camper. She was so envious of Oprah .. she could hardly stand to be in the same room.
That OW and BO ‘screwed’ — the people counting on Chicago at least getting the nomination for the Olympics must rub their hands with glee when those two mental midgets are BOTH within ‘range’— together, at the same time.
Kind of like I had said before that when HRC was a member of the Cabinet, I would have definitely recommended that the day SHE was the ‘one’ to sit out the event would be the day to call in sick.
At least an innocent white shopkeeper won’t be fired when Oprah accuses her of racism, which seems to have happened more than once when an Oprah movie comes out. This one is made for her.
This is the only one of the 8 Oscar Best Picture nominees I have not seen.

If there’s a perfect storm during Oscar Season, Box Office Mojo sees “Selma’s” best case box office scenario as $50 million. Yet, with an estimated $40 million budget, “Selma” will have to at least crack $80 to $90 million just to break even.

It doesn’t matter; these movies are not for entertainment, but are basically for educating the non-reading segment of our population. Everything presented in “black victim films” is accepted as Gospel truth by people who can’t/won’t read and need something other than their own deficiencies to blame for their lots in life. The fact that the events happened half a century ago is lost on many viewers with no concept of history.
A former co-worker (the target market for such films) described the effects in the “Titanic” movie after seeing it; he was very impressed. When I told him how such a large proportion of the passengers had died, he was amazed that the movie was based on an actual event. He had no idea that a ship named the Titanic ever existed, or had sunk after striking an iceberg.

Yeah, I see the media just blitzed with Selma Academy Award-snub sob-stories. Oprah is a billionaire, she’s making millions off this movie, but we’re supposed to cry a river because she’s not getting an award, too? I care more about round river rocks in lower Slobobia than I do about Oprah.
The biggest region of rarefied air in this story is in Oprah’s head.
