Although the subject matter is dated, the humor is timeless. A cast that has Dom Deluise, Paul Lynd, Dick martin, Doris Day, Rod Taylor, Arthur Godfrey, etc. cannot be anything but funny.
I purchased this film so I could watch it at my leisure.
Doris Day.
A gorgeous gal who for some reason always came across as frigid.
Doris Day was fortysomething in 1966. At the time reviewers were saying that the sands of time were starting to run a bit thick for her sexy roles.
Her films were already known for utilizing gauze filters in closeups.
In private life, a good person. Doris Day is called an animal rights activist but she is the real deal since her work involves funding shelters & other facilities that actually benefit animals.

Doris Day was a famous jazz singer before her movie career, leading Oscar Levant to quip, “I knew Doris Day before she was a virgin.”
I think I read she’s a Republican. Of course, how conservative or liberal a Republican I do not know. I respect how she left acting and the public eye in the 1970s after such a successful career and focused her time, money and energy on other things.
I think “The Glass Bottom Boat” was the best of her films made post-1963.
Maybe that’s where she did her best acting.
I remember when Rock Hudson announced to the world that he was dying of AIDS, she was right by his side. They were lifelong friends. You have to admire her kindness.
Doris Day with James Garner in “The Thrill of It All” in 1963 was a real hoot.
Like when he drove his 1958 Chevy Impala into a swimming pool that wasn’t there when he left for work that morning.
Frigid? Maybe subtle or a lady.
Used to be men enjoyed keeping the hot stuff private.
Sorry, had to watch “The Spy Who Came in from the Cold” on “Movie!” - seen it a dozen times and still can’t figure out who did what to who - but love the crackling dialogue: “They need seedy little men like me for spies so the moronic masses you adore can sleep safely in their flea-infested beds at night”......

Yep. That’s a great scene from a hilarious movie. My mom particularly loves the scene where Garner rides on horseback thru the traffic to help deliver a baby.
