Michael Savage takes on new broadcast role: Life coach and ‘wise father’

Indefatigable talk radio host Michael Savage is adding some noteworthy reinvention to his format after 2014 finally gives way to 2015. “Politics has always been the bread and butter of my show. I’m the one who has been promoting “borders, language and culture” for 20 years. But we all know we live in a one-party system that’s basically an oligarchy. To hear about politics every day is boring. I’ll continue to talk about the news when we need to talk about it. Next year, though, I’m moving into diverse lifestyle topics as well,” says the veteran commentator and author, who is heard nationwide by about 7 million listeners.

Many people in our world don’t have a wise father, uncle or older brother to turn to. I can play that role in their lives,”

Did anyone hear his program where he had people call in who were addicted to porn? Something tells me that he is also addicted to it. When you want mentoring - you certainly want someone whose life you can emulate. I’m not sure that he fits that role model. Is he even qualified to help others with their problems when he has so many of his own? Not to mention how rude he is to some of his callers. What an egomaniac. He forbids anyone to ask him how he is - or address him warmly -yet wants people to open up their lives to him? Geesh!

He’ll be a great mentor since he ridiculed our military and others saying there is no such thing as PTSD. The moron, there are more children who are abused suffering from chronic PTSD than any other group. He is a LOSER.

I listened to Savage a couple of times. Any man who will yell at callers has no respect for his audience. Mark Levin is cut from the same mold.

Same Clown who said Autism was made up? Another obnoxious shock jock like Imus or Stern. Imus's wife seems to think she's a life expert also LOL.

Mark Levin is cut from the same mold.

Nope. Perhaps one similarity, but not the same mold at all.

From my perspective, PTSD is the most overused misused diagnosis since fibromyalgia, whiplash and TMJ.

I realized years ago that these talkshow hosts were little more than entertainers. They would take any side of any issue that helped their ratings. If one listens long enough, he/she will hear most of them eventually contradict positions they held at another time. They come as close as possible to be ‘shock jocks’ because their audiences seem to like them being edgy.

Whatever gives them to smile all the way to the bank ...

Just learn to not take ANY of them too seriously.

fibromyalgia

"Diabetic nerve pain" replaced fibromyalgia for a while in some prescription advertisements.

I noticed recently that fibromyalgia seems to be back.

A year or so ago, Savage took over the spot in Detroit left by Hannity. So for a few days I listened to Savage. I simply couldn’t take it. He would ramble endlessly over irrelevant, self congratulating topics, he would pretend to be deeply introspective, and he would just bloviate, but never did he say anything remotely interesting. I haven’t listened since. Silence is better than Savage.

I won't argue with that. Earlier this year (2014) he went through an unlistenable phase that was just as you described. He largely got over it, but every now and then reverts back. The best Savage is political commentary Savage, then he's the best. Youtube has lots of examples of Mike at the top of his game.

From my perspective, PTSD is the most overused misused diagnosis since fibromyalgia, whiplash and TMJ.

LOL so is ADD ADHD but likely not for the reasons you think. The ADD/ADHD is a similar in symptoms only but is more likely a recently discovered neurological issue called Central Auditory Processing Disorders involving a child or adults auditory and optic sensory processing and translation. Caused by simple things like childhood sinus allergies, Chronic Ear Infections, chronic Tonsil inflammation, etc which can do damage to a persons Vestibular system. Medications needed? Antihistamines. Extra cost to school? $0 Place the kid in front where the kid can read the teachers lips. They can read lips faster than they can hear and process sound.

As for PTSD many think it isn't real until they themselves have had it. It's real and can vary greatly in each person. It doesn't have to be military service related. But interesting enough it often shows up when other neurological issues show up in adults with forms of Central Auditory Processing Disorders as does General Anxiety Disorder which is actually in that case a symptom rather than a true disorder in itself. Of the above I mentioned {all of which I am diagnosed} the PTSD I was able to be treated for and it went away after 5 years of therapy. The other issues have no cure but can be somewhat treated. Oh and it's not a fad diagnoses for me. Most of it they caught in me back in the 1960's especially the one eye vision and the what they misdiagnosed at the time as ADD ADHD {darn Ritalin didn't work for me LOL}. The PTSD came much later from some highly traumatic events in a short time frame.
