But sources close to Mariah Carey’s widely panned NBC tree-lighting performance at 30 Rock believe disgruntled techies are to blame for leaking a vocals-only recording of her woeful Wednesday night appearance. Their motive? Revenge! As Confidenti@l reported Thursday, production workers attached to the NBC broadcast were upset that Carey kept them waiting three hours in the winter cold Tuesday night, and ultimately failing to show for a taping of her Christmas performance. That number was supposed to air on Wednesday’s broadcast. The network and the diva were left with no choice but to take their chances with a live performance of Carey’s 1994 classic “All I Want for Christmas.” Producers did their best to cover her awful appearance with sophisticated audio mixing that seemingly took advantage of good backup singers and musicians as well as the audience cheering. But on Thursday morning, a track of just Carey’s voice, screeching through the holiday tune sans musical accompaniment, hit the Internet.

Maybe she should have dressed more appropriately
If a performer uses a wireless, clever people can use a scanner or other receiver to get “vocals only” audio. You don’t need disgruntled audio engineers.

It was bad. Late Night TV played it as well.
Maybe looser clothes would have helped? She was literally poured, like pancake mix, into that outfit.

that is the most covered up she has been since she got those fake boobs... there was a time--late 80's/early 90's when she was lean and svelte... more natural... very pretty... and talented as a vocalist and a songwriter... she got the implants and started dressing tight and short and revealing... she is in her mid-forties and still trying to be the sex kitten... her heavy boobs are sagging, and it seems her voice has not aged well...
I always thought AutoTune was a studio enhancement (I’ve never used it). Do performers use it live?

Old? I thought she was only 40-43 or so....or maybe I’m mixing her up with another singer? Early 40’s is not old tho!!!
autotune can’t correct all vocal problems 100%. it can smooth over most but not all problems.
