Let me know if this has already been talked about. I looked, but saw no prior discussion. There is a small social group of small business owners considering a most unorthodox proposal, that being to build a small McDonald's restaurant inside of existing churches. The theory being that this would help to increase church attendance, resulting in a net gain for both the participating house of worship and the locally held franchise.
I truly thought this was nothing but an overwrought, ill conceived joke written by some bored agnostic, but now I'm not so sure. It is so off the wall, it may work in a material sense, but it is not likely to increase the parish numbers who are primarily in church to sate the hunger in their soul. By no means am i endorsing this approach. I only wish to share a bit of current events proposals that really shocked me. It's better to know what we may one day have to deal with. The more traditional christian must be ready to calmly and articulately explain to an outside group exactly why we are so quick to reject this idea. We cannot expect certain followers to just get it, like we do.
The group is lead by di Lucca, a creative director at the church branding agency Lux Dei design, and hopes to raise one million dollars via IndieGoGo, a fundraising site. So far they only have raised $104 while also using the hashtag #Feast4Jesus.
Gamecock this sounds like something a megachurch would do. You hear anything about it?
Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce;
Special orders dont upset us.
All we ask is that you let us serve Jesus your way
Have him your way, Have him your way
Have him your way, Have Jesus your way.
(oops, wrong franchise)

A whole new world of advertising would be one of the more obvious first results. I actually find it hard to believe that McDonald’s would allow its name to become so publicly identified with the Christian Church, or any specific type of spiritual worship. Small companies, yes, but McDonald’s is the Apple Inc. of fast fooders. Too many people would be jumping out of the woodwork to whine how very offended they now feel. Too many already warped in thinking skills by Common Core to avoid creating a rhetorical minefield.
I can just imagine their hymnals.
For your pennance, Curly Fries at Lunch, but with no ketchup, for the next nine weekdays.
Filet O Fish for lent.
I have a better idea - how about I go to my nearest Macca’s and start preaching on a Sunday morning - I wonder how far into Leviticus I would get?
What? Oh. OK, maybe I better re-read that...
Megachurches already have their own own coffee shops and concessions.... I heard that Prestonwood (Preston World) Baptist Church of Dallas has 2 coffee shops!
Is Macca a nationally known restaurant name?
I know it first as the nickname the British have given to Paul McCartney. No one seems to know how they settled on that as his Buddy Name.
McCommunion
The miracle of the fries and filet o’ fish.
The sermon at the drive thru

Smell for yourself and know the truth about those Bacon Scented Bookmarkers your kids have been raving about! Yes, they are edible.
Everyone here calls McDonald’s Maccas - and it is everywhere. Australians tend to shorten names like that so McCartney is easily changed to Macca!
that’s stupid. it takes the same amount of time to say each.
I’m not promoting it just telling how it is! :)
Okay why do they need 2 coffee shops?
I understand. For some, Macca is used as a generic endearment, sort of like The Boss, or Diva, or even as with “Mooch”,a nickname never as widely used as it is today.
McDonalds is your kind of place
They serve you rattle snakes
They stomp you on the floor
They kick you out the door
The last time I went there,
They stole my underwear.
McDonalds is your kind of place
They slap you in the face
French fries between your toes
Pickles up your nose
And dont forget those slimy shakes
Fresh from polluted Lakes
McDonalds is your kind of place.
