George Harrison was just starting to really blossom into a good songwriter and then the Beatles broke up. He was able to produce his songs that perhaps may not have gotten recorded since Lennon-McCartney were just prolific writers.
Beatles breakup affected John and George the most IMO.

I like the Byrds. . . But I also like The Crazy World of Arthur Brown’s Fire: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=en1uwIzI3SE, the Dave Clarke Five http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0Ib501CEjU, the Rolling Stones, and just about every other band in the 60s.

Frank Zappa was brilliant and would have loved having a personal computer to play and to play with. I think it was Zappa who gave Alice Cooper his first big breaks in recording with a professional band.

The Byrd’s were an excellent group that went on to produce many great careers.

My favorite Beatle music...Rubber Soul and Revolver (dating myself here). I cherry picked the songs on later albums.

But....I still think they might be the best of all times. Not only for their talent, but for their cultural influence.

And her sister is married to a guitar legend. Ringo’s B.I.L. is Joe Walsh.

The Byrds ? Yea , I liked them too but virtually all their hits were covers of Dylan’s and Seeger’s songs ! The Wrecking Crew played all the instruments on their early recordings with the exception of McGuinn . Dave Clark didn’t even play drums on any of the DC5 recordings . Studio drummers . Duh !

The Beatles are the most “ covered “ arists of all time . How many DC5 tribute bands do you see ? Who covers DC5 tunes ? Nobody . Byrds covered a lot of Dylan songs to get where they went and used studio musicians for a time as well . Get real .

“The Beatles are the most “ covered “ arists of all time .”

How does that mean they are not overrated? Oh, that’s right, it doesn’t.

“How many DC5 tribute bands do you see ?”

So your belief that there aren’t any famous DC5 cover bands means the Beatles aren’t overrated? What kind of logic is that?

“Who covers DC5 tunes ? Nobody .”

There were covers in the past: http://www.coversproject.com/artist/Dave+Clark+Five How many covers are there now? I have no idea. You don’t either. I also have no idea how many covers of Beatles songs there are these days.

“Byrds covered a lot of Dylan songs to get where they went and used studio musicians for a time as well . Get real .”

When you learn how to think, let me know.

The Stones are still releasing albums, so it's more like in eight years, the Beatles put together more than twice the song catalog that the Stones put together in 50 years.

Clearly the most influential band in history, and on my daily playlist.

As for who was the best drummer among the Beatles? Lennon could have been joking, but it may have been Paul McCartney, who came up with the drumming pattern on Ticket to Ride, where the drum lags behind the beat on the first half of the song. (McCartney also played lead guitar on Ticket to Ride.)

McCartney played the drums on some of the White Album (Back in the USSR; Ballad of John and Yoko; Dear Prudence; Honey Pie; Why Don't We Do It In the Road).

Yesterday was the 50th Anniversary of the theatre release of Hard Day's Night - on the eve of Ringo's 24th Birthday.

Macca also played all the instruments on his first solo album. On "Maybe I'm Amazed", that's him on drums, keyboards, guitars, bass, everything.

Macca could and can play anything. Somewhere in my bookmarks, I have a master’s thesis written on the techniques McCartney used to play bass on one Beatle’s song - it had something to do with him playing double 64ths 1/32 or 1/64 before the beat, and other techniques in bridges and other parts of the song, which were key to the sound of the song. It read like calculus.

Who?

No, that's his son, Zakk, he is the current drummer for The Who.

But who sings Zappa songs at weddings or anniversaries?

I think "Dancing Fool" would be perfect at Weddings.

I have to know: Is the song “Rain”? The bass on that never fails to astound me.
