This "zoo" seems to be nothing more than an abattoir. They don't seem to shift themselves much to rehome unwanted animals. They'd rather kill them. They are a bunch of sick misguided ____s. The "zoo" should either be closed or put into the hands of some actually competent people.

I was REALLY upset about them killing Marius the giraffe and still am. Poor thing, suckered into putting his head down for his favorite treat, only to be shot and butchered.

In Denmark it is acceptable and legal to visit animal brothels. I guess the lions would not have worked out for them there though.

One very sick country. They don't have a problem with animal brothels and in fact, the man who killed Marius and runs the zoo in Copenhagen is in charge of the animal brothels. So we know what his life is like after work, I do believe.

Re “What’s wrong with this zoo”? Easy. Seems that not all the old Nazis left Denmark. They got jobs running the zoo, and are keeping in practice for the next time.

Well ya might want to pray for all us ranchers here in the US since we do the same thing. When genetics get tight we bring in new bull’s and sell off what we don’t want anymore. The rejects go to market where they’re killed, butchered, packaged and resold to be eaten. To bad there’s not a market for lion meat.

I ranch too, Dusty, so what part of you said is key. When there are animals we don’t want or need we send them to the market. At that market those animals are given the opportunity to be picked up by other farmers or ranchers or whoever may want them.

I don’t like waste of any kind and this Danish zoo is apparently deciding to rid itself of certain animals but not even entertaining the idea of contacting other zoos or animal sanctuaries anywhere to see if they’d be interested in them. An official with the Columbus, OH zoo was on tv last night saying how they were never made aware of the giraffe or lions by the Danish zoo but would have either taken them or helped them find a place to go.

I can’t imagine that there aren’t other facilities all over the world that would take another giraffe or some lions for their collection. At least give someone the chance before wantonly destroying them out of convenience.
