The High and the Mighty (1954) and Flight of the Phoenix (1965) are personal favorites.

The original “Flight of the Phoenix” should be in the top 5.

“13 Hours by Air” (1936) is an old favorite.

What about “Spirit of St. Louis” (1957), even though Jimmy Stewart was WAY too old to be playing Lindbergh?

Top Gun with its homosexual overtones is not better than Airplane!

For the most part, a stunningly lame list. Off the top of my head, Flight of the Phoenix, No Highway in the Sky, Dr. Strangelove (the Slim Pickens parts), The Lost Squadron, Only Angels Have Wings (”Calling Barranca. Calling Barranca.”) and The Spirit of St. Louis.

I am so old it seems.

I like the movies you list, but my memories go back to others not even there.

Flying Tigers,
Twelve O’clock High
633 Squadron
The Dam Busters
Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo

and so on.
