Netflix has The Uninvited on DVD. We have it on VHS because it has long been one of Mrs. Homers favorites. She takes exception to Crowthers flippant take on the movie. I must confess to following his suggestion and nodding off during one or two of the unhaunted scenes. The notes on the box that holds our VHS version calls The Uninvited one of the first films to deal with ghosts in a serious and terrifying manner. So there you have it the film has historical significance HJS.

Love this film. Bought the Blu-ray after patiently waiting for this release.

The review made me think of “High Spirits,” with Peter O’Toole.

The newspape post is a nice touch. Reminds you of better times. It was before I was born but I still like it. Reminds me of reading my grandmother’s Good Old Days” magazines when I was a kid

Noticed the ad for “The Girl of the Moment,” starring Ginger Rogers. Amazing legs!

We have the Blu-ray version as well. Excellent movie; great score (and theme song).

One of my favorites. I manages to do more with music, setting and some excellent acting then newer movies can do with millions spent on VR and a body count that would make Stalin blush.

Saw that chiller as a kid, and I could barely stand being alone in the house, especially after dark. But it was/ is my favorite ghost film of all.
Years later I saw a rerun, and I had to laugh. In the scene where Milland is out on the sailboat with the heroine, he has his hat on. Suit and tie too? I can’t remember.

Suit and tie too? Yep. They never came off unless he was in bed listening to unearthly sobbing.

I did Google that scene with the suit and the sailboat, and it was as I said -— plus Gail Russell had on a hat, coat and heels ON THE BOAT!
At the time seeing it — in ‘44 — it never seemed odd. I guess we expected everyone to be dressed ‘’properly’’ all the time.
