A simulation ‘proving’ that the universe (which includes the simulation) is a simulation.
It’s obvious that anybody who really is convinced of that is no longer a scientist, but a weak-minded jerk.

“That idea is not as wild as it sounds. For example, suppose there is a road 10 miles long, and its is contained by a start line and a finish line. Suppose the speed limit on this road is 60 mph, and I want to determine if a car has been speeding. One way I could do this is to watch a car the whole length of the road, measuring its speed the whole time. But another way is to simply measure when a car crosses the start line and finish line. At a speed of 60 mph, a car travels a mile a minute, so if the time between start and finish is less than 10 minutes, I know the car was speeding.”
Sorry, pseudo-scientist. Both ways are equivalent. In way 1, the speed is measured over shorter distances than in way 2, but both are the same thing.

You can make a simulation that backs up pretty much anything.

I’s all way over my head. But something tells me that when they work out the Grand Unified Theory — it will lead to some amazing technological developments.

Yep. Look at the global warming simulations. Garbage in, garbage out.

Holograms are all in our minds.

Matter is mostly empty space. There is an element of illusion to the world as we know it, visually. We see what we’re equipped to see. There is more to it than that, though. I can see why some would equate this with a hologram.

As I understand the theory in question, it has to do with the fact that any simulation has what is, in effect, a "minimum pixel size". We're close to that "minimal pixel size" in terms of understanding how quantum scales work, which enables us to further extrapolate possibilities.
It's not really a question of "we think this is a simulation". It's more a situation where "if this were not a simulation, we would expect to see disproofs at this point, but we're not".

Whew. I was worried about that.
To: Fester Chugabrew
Your worry is just a part of the hologram.

The universe is a FINITE and closed system. Kinda explains the laws of motion.
It will exist only as long as The Creator wants it to.
Don't Panic!

Obviously the universe is not a hologram. The thing is it fits string theory, which probably means string theory is complete pap.

How come people who do not believe in God can think the universe is a hologram? Who made the hologram?
