Those cops should be hanged.

I was in total disagreement with another poster who agreed with what they did and with them or anyone taking away his (or my) right to die for my son!

I was saying that they might attempt to restrain him but anything more was out of line.

It was and is his right to protect his family from his burning home not the governments!

I, too, am sick to death of those who demand it is their right to decide what action or actions are "safe" for me to do to save the life of my child!

Now you are being rational. That often does not go over very well here.

That's their right,

What about their responsibilities?

Their so-called "responsibilities" don't supersede my (or his) right to attempt to save my family, even against the belief of "the experts."

I still believe it's my God given right to save my child and to die trying.

Did you even read my comments - your IQ maybe over 150 but I think you better check your blood pressure it might be just a little higher! My initial post spoke about the fact that once restrained they should have been able to keep him that way without tasing him. Even people with high IQ’s can make irrational decisions given exceptional circumstances. A firefighter (with his gear on) had tried to enter the premises and made the decision it was too hot to do so. What sort of a chance do you think the step dad would have had. Now you would have a 3 year old and his step dad dead but that would have made you happy because nobody would have been told what to do by anyone in authority.

Oh and just as an offside a guy a play in a band with is one of the most senior fire chiefs in the state where I live - he has told me how more than once a civilian has run back into a house to rescue a pet or another person and the person/animal has made it out another way. They lived - the person who re-entered did not. So how about using that 150+ IQ of yours and realize that people who do this work are more qualified to make a decision than you and they are brave to the point of recklessness in their efforts to save others.

And I really object to your assertion that I do drugs - is that the way you start a rational discussion or are you just used to ramming your opinions down everyone else’s throat and can’t believe anyone would have actually thought through an opinion that is opposite to one you hold!

After reading and re-reading the piece, I have no doubt about how I feel.

It is yet another example of why people should hate the police, with a flaming passion.

They could have accomplished the same thing by cuffing him and stuffing him in the back of a car.

Instead, they decided to get their sadistic jollies by lighting him up three times.

the firefighters arrived some time AFTER the man was restrained and tazed

he attempted to act as the cops stood and watched the house burn, waiting for the FD

You have no idea if the conditions BEFORE the FD arrived could have allowed the man- who knew the floor plan of the house and exactly where was this kids room- right off the 1st floor living room- to run in and try to grab the kid

being tazed TWICE after being handcuffed was punishment, not protection

It is the job of the police and firemen to rescue people. Had the Dad saved his boy’s life, the police and firemen (without balls) would have looked like the cowards they really are so they did the right thing for themselves, and stopped a would-be rescuer from making them look like the
a-holes we all know they are.

On the other hand, females were instrumental in having the “Fireman’s Carry” eliminated from training since they haven’t the upper body strength and endurance of men. Maybe they were all female fire fighters. Oh, and don’t forget the black firemen who were instrumental in having swimming requirements dropped as most of them were incapable of swimming and/or being taught to. YEP, lots of dead people out there due to political correctness.

I think I’m inclined to agree that lighting him up after he was cuffed and in the back of a car is actionable.

You know most bedrooms have windows. I’m telling you ... I can knock a hole in a house from the outside. I don’t know how bad the fire was, but you don’t have to go in through the front door to get in a house. I had quite a bit of fire training in the early 80’s when I worked in a Natural Gas Processing plant. 8 hours to put out a house fire? I dunno.

I had the feeling the bedroom was on the second floor - don’t know how I got that. I have been doing Fire courses for over 25 years and I am a campus evacuation officer at a University of over 4000 people - once the Fire Brigade are on site they have the call and the responsibility. I have dealt with a plane crash and a number of fires, chemical spills, heart attacks, stroke victims, serious assaults etc and I am always glad when a Fire Officer or Emergency Professional stops me and says “we have it from here”. They have the superior training and equipment and will nonchalantly walk into hazardous situations that I would avoid at all costs. Yes 8 hours seems strange - sounds like that may have included the investigation etc - I have never heard of a house that will take 8 hours to put out.
